Most of them you have to pry/cut/break open to get the cells out. Obviously care should be taken to avoid damaging the cells themselves. I've been rotating 8 cells from 3 different batteries for nearly 2 years in an electronic cigarette that I use pretty heavily. The charge lasts 2-4 days depending on which cell and my usage. That being the case I've probably cycled all of them more than 10 times and have had only one die on me so far.Most of the ones that I've salvaged have been high quality as far as 18650 batteries go, being manufactured by companies such as LG, Panasonic, Samsung etc.
