On your garage door I would look into weather seals made for garage doors in particular, and yours looks like it is the one piece "canopy" style door. Maybe once you find this type of side seal, you could add to it somehow. Because air leaks are also sound leaks.I am looking into this for this for my own canopy style door, but I have the added problem of that my door is not square in the frame making the gaps uneven, so I have to fix that first.

Great advice on making the pipe flush to the surface, or embedded with a plug! I want to challenge you on your grain direction advice though. From what I have experienced, wood most often splits across the grain, so I would want to position the pipe parallel to, rather than across (perpendicular to) the grain for greatest strength. (so that any natural splitting that occurs will be 90 degrees to the pipe)
It looks like fun, but are you absolutely sure all that cheese is beneficial to the wildlife? Ask a local wildlife biologist.
