I was surprised that the recipe didn't call for ice, and a short blend, might freeze faster and help those who are somewhat allergic to sugar =P

Hi, to answer any questions as it may confirm you should mix it just before soft peaks otherwise it may for chunky butter :)
Can anyone please tell me the ratio of condensed milk to cream? I am Australian and use the metric system ;)
Any help appreciated x

that's because you whipped the cream to long and yes you made edible butter. Just rinse it in cold water, yes I mean cold water.add a pinch of salt and use it just like butter. Next time whip till soft peaks form when you lift the beaters

I wanted to make a batch of ice cream for a dinner with many people, so i've decided to make this recipe. I used 3 L of cream, which I first whisked until the cream had the texture of a cake batter. I scratched out one vanilla bean into the cream, and gently folded in 2 cans of condensed milk in the end. So, I used only half the amount of condensed milk compared to the recipe but I would not recommend to use any more or it will be way too sweet! The ratio should be 500ml cream to 1/2 can conensed milk, then it tastes quite like regular ice cream.
Also in previous comments it was mentioned that this recipe is more expensive than just buying icecream at the supermarket. I agree but I must add to it that selfmade things are usually more expensive than stroe bought (think of bread, yogurt, jam etc). For me selfmade things are not about the price but about the "selfmade". But ya, with only two ingredients its also not really that much of selfmade here.
A quick and simple recipe. Good for making huge amounts.

This looks like ice cream but contains about twice the sugar and it tastes unsurprisingly about twice as sweet. It tastes a little like a caramel flavoured ice cream. My 5 year old tried it on berries then proceeded to ask for the berries to be washed off and ate the berries plain. It was okay but I wouldn't make it again. The ingredients were more expensive than ice cream and the flavour was not ice creamy enough.
