Intro: Adapt Smaller Batteries for Remote Controllers

Your kid wants to play wii but you are lazy enough to go and buy batteries for him in Saturday morning. Creativity often comes from lazynnes , and i had some smaller batteries bought from IKEA that could fit in wii controller. Go to your kitchen get some of aluminium. foil and wrap it 7 to 8 times (i dont think you can do more). it will be enough to make a contact between spaces of batteries. Enjoy.

I used to do this with my remote controlled cars years ago. Never had a problem. Awesome instructable.
i appritiate your concern. but AAA batteries... come one...can you make fire from that?
If you use a chewing gum wrapper instead of proper foil? Yes.
Survival hack, but it does require shorting directly from battery + to battery -.
With the remote circuitry in the way? Yeah, perfectly safe.
It can bring the controller to melt or even burn... :(
With AAA batteries, you are perfectly safe. Even 9 volts re fine. The resistance of the foil is low enough, and internal resistance of the batteries high enough, that nothing will happen. This is NOT something to do when trying to make stubby li-ion batteries fut into longer holders, as you CAN start a fure that way.... but we are dealing with remote controls here, not high power flashlights.

Why? As long as the installation is OK (looks OK in the photos) he should be perfectly fine. Don't be scared of AAA batteries :)
