Blue Jean Bracelet

Intro: Blue Jean Bracelet

I made this from a recycled part of old blue jeans.

These jeans of mine had seen better days, but with a little epoxy and a quick turn on the lathe, I transform them into something unique!

I originally sprayed it with lacquer, but it just wasn't right. So I sanded it off and left it unfinished. The patterns that you get from the layers of denim is quite interesting!

I'm really impressed - creative way to work jeans as a crafting material. I usually don't watch the video for Instructables that punch out to videos, but your photos provided enough concept information to let me know the project is interesting. Your video was very well done - enough so that I stuck around for the copper pipe box, which was also very creative use of the pipe (and nice primer on box making). Your comments at the end of the copper box video about Instructibles sums up why I love Instructibles and am browsing here pretty much every day. Great work!

Thank you.
I agree with you I'm a huge fan of Instructables!

Amazing! I love anything denim! Such a cool pattern...almost looks wood grained! Awesome!

Apparently the technique is very popular for knife handles. I had no clue, but it's even got a fancy name, denim micarta

This is really cool! I'm tempted to learn to use the lathe just to try making one myself!

Thanks! Turning on the lathe is a blast!

Way cool. I never would have thought of stabilizing denim in that way and for that purpose. What's up with the colored pencils? Are the glue joints separating, or the structure of the wood grain when you're turning them?

The trouble with the pencil rings in this. The glue will stick just fine to the paint on the outside, but that paint will not stick well enough to the pencil to stay together. Also the "wood" grain is very delicate and just tends to break apart on when sanded or turned. I'm running out of things to try!

Although I'm a guy, I will say that this is a pretty awesome bracelet. Nice!

Thanks! I loved your shield build! Might be my favorite on here!

I have made knife scales and a couple of grips for a pistol out of blue jean micarta never thought about jewelry you can also lay in different colors of cloth for a different look
That's cool! I had no idea it was a 'thing'
Great, now I have to try making denium rings on the lathe.
The few seconds of video where you showed the turn, and flip resizing on the jam chuck tailstock piece... worth the whole video!

And now, off to youtube to catch up on my latest channel subscription, kludge1977

I'm glad you found some worth there!
It actually turns really well! Good luck!

I'd heard that term before, but didn't know what it was! It would made cool knife scales!

That is sweet! I just had to watch the video to see how you made that :)
