Intro: Coconut Bounty Alike Chocolate Bars

With the current coconut contest in mind, I was all excited to create a new 'ibles. I come from Kerala and it is indeed famous for coconut based recipes. You wont be finding any meal without coconut in some dish.

This is an adaption from the bounty recipes found online. I have tweaked few ingredients to my liking. Come on.. Let's get started.. :)

STEP 1: Ingredients

Ingredients:

coconut grated - 1 cup

condensed milk - 1/2 cup

Honey - 1 Tbsp

Chocolate coating:

Water - 3/4 Cup
Sugar - 1/2 Cup

Milk - 3 Tbsp

Cocoa Powder - 1/4 cup

Cornflour Syrup - 2 Tbsp

Chocolate - 3 Square pieces

Vanilla Extract - 1 Tsp

Butter - 1 Tsp

STEP 2: Bounty Filling

In a medium bowl, mix coconut, honey and sweetened condensed milk to make a thick and sticky paste.

STEP 3: Shape It

Using your hands, form some the desired shape with the paste. Press firmly to make sure they keep their shape.

After they are shaped place them in a dish or tray and refrigerate.

They need to be in the fridge for 1 hour at least. Then it will be easy to coat it with chocolate and it will hold shape.

STEP 4: Chocolate Coating

Boil Water and sugar till the sugar is dissolved. Add milk. Keep on low flame. Add cocoa powder to the mix.

Add the Chocolate piece and let it melt. Add Corn Flour Syrup and keep mixing continuously to prevent lump formation.

STEP 5: Coat the Chocolate

Now take the coconut filling from the fridge. Make sure it is firm.

Now dip them into the chocolate sauce just made. Make sure the chocolate sauce is not that hot.

Dip them and place it back into the tray.

Refrigerate them again for half an hour. You will get a look alike bounty bars. I love the taste of honey in the coconut filling.

Enjoy the simple dessert. Of course it is high on calories :)
