DIY Hanging Fairy Light Jar
Intro: DIY Hanging Fairy Light Jar
A simple battery powered lighting solution for every day or a special occasion
STEP 1: Step One:
Start by painting the rim of the bottle using any colour that matches your decor, I’ve chosen to use gold. Then take your string and fix it tightly around the neck of the bottle.
STEP 2: Step 2:
Cut 3 pieces of string to your desired length. This is a good time to measure where and how low you would like to hang your light. Cut each length long enough that it can be doubled over while also adding enough to allow you to tie off your ends. I used a Bobby Pin to slide the end of the string under the tightly tied band.
STEP 3: Step 3
Side all three lengths under the band, double them over and evenly space them so that they become the strings that will hold the bottle up.
STEP 4: Step 4:
Slide the band flush against the painted rim of the bottle and put the lengths inside so they don’t get in the way. Use double sided tape to hold down the loose ends of the band and the start of the string that you use to wrap around the neck of the bottle. For a clean finish that will conceal the battery pack, make sure the string is wrapped around the neck of the bottle evenly layer by layer.
STEP 5: Step 5:
Next trace and cut a circle the size of the rim of the bottle from a piece of cardboard.
STEP 6: Step 6:
Then use double sided tape or glue to attach the battery pack to the reverse side of the cardboard. Feed the wire lights into the bottle and place the cardboard on top as the bottles lid.
STEP 7: Step 7
Tie together the lengths and your new light it ready to hang!

Nice! You should add a step and embed your video here. That's a good way to double up your effort.
Great first instructable too. This is a perfect write-up of a clever, reproducible project!

Something is missing in the description. What is the source of the lights? Are you using Christmas lights? Can you provide more details. You mention string, but I think there is more at work here.

OK, now we know how to make the lid and hanging string, but how about the line with the "fairy lights" and the battery pack setup? Unless you are supposed to go buy it somewhere, these instructions are only half there.

I will be trying this soon and I know a person has to find and buy the fairy light's. How many light's are on your light string?
