Building a homemade amplifier using TDA2822

STEP 1: Things Required

1. 10k Potentiometer

2. 100uF / 16 volt Capacitor

3. TDA2822

4. 10 Ohm Resistor (3)

5. 0.1uF Ceramic Capacitor (2)

6. 0.01uF Ceramic Capacitor

7. 10uF / 50 Volt Capacitor

8. 3.5 mm Male & Female Jack

9. Switch

10. USB Cable

11. PCB Board, Wires, Battery

12. Soldering Rod. Soldering Wire & Soldering Paste

13. Enclosure for Amplifier

14. Insulation Tape & Scissor

STEP 2: Circuit Diagram & TDA2822 Pin Configuration

STEP 3: Construction

Make all the necessary connection according to the Circuit Diagram as shown in the previous step

What is the approximate cost? Where were the parts sourced from?

I have put buying inks in the last step. The approximate cost would be 2 to 3 dollars.

Since this is a Bridge Amplifier design the output you can get around 2 watts

Well... it could be a bridged amplifier... except the input of one of the amps is grounded, so only 1 amp in the chip is active! To make it a bridged amp, you'd have to unground pin 6 and feed an inverted copy of the input signal to pin 6.

The way this amp is designed, half of the amp chip is wasted.

Yes this is a bridged amplifier.

"The way this amp is designed, half of the amp chip is wasted" - This is not the case, The bridge amplifier has high output power whereas in the stereo design the output power will be less.This is the reason i have showed the bridge design

OK... I see from the datasheet of a TDA2822 that this is a correct bridge configuration.

Normally for a bridged amp, you have to drive both inputs. Apparently this amp chip takes care of that internally.

Why do you use a stereo input jack when it is only a mono amplifier? Or is a stereo amplifier (you show a single speaker)?

Hi, the stereo jack is turned into a mono jack. The only reason to use the stereo jack is because i didn't have any mono jack.

Cool instruction video, quite informative and sensible.

The 10 ohm resistor (R1) will severely limit output power, and even if you do wish to limit power that way, I would recommend moving C1 so it connects between pin 2 (Vcc) and GND. Doing so will reduce distortion.
