Intro: Feed Me Seymour

My son just recently watched Little Shop of Horror and fell in love. He really wanted to be Audrey 2 but we couldn't find anything good enough so we made our own.

STEP 1: Swimming Tubes

We bought pool noodles from the dollar store. We only needed 2 for my seven year old. We curved one in an oval shape and taped it together. The second one we cut off half and made a curve to make it more Audrey 2 looking.

STEP 2: Two

I made the pot out of cardboard and lots of glue. I just found a tin piece that I could easily roll to shape out. For the top of the Audrey 2 head we glued some brown butcher paper to the top and cut around it to get the shape we wanted. And we added the pink tongue to cover our sons chest.

STEP 3: Painting

Next we just painted it as closely as we could to the real Audrey2 as we could because my son really wanted an authentic look to it lol. We used foam brushes to get a better look than regular art brushes.

STEP 4: Last Step

We added all the foliage and added padding to the sides of the pot so it wouldn't move so much. We made our own leaves because the craft store leaves were ridiculously expensive. I also later added moss to the top of the pot to cover the padding.

STEP 5: Audrey 2

thank you! One pool noodle fit my son and us, but you can add if you'd like it big enough to go over your shoulders.

Did you know that Seymour was actually the bad guy and that the made for TV movie ending was changed to a happy ending? In the original Broadway version, the plant entices Seymour to feed Audrey, his girlfriend, to Audrey II as well as the Dentist and Mr. Mushnik and eventually the plant even eats Seymour. The sales person in the movie who wants a contract to take plant clippings gets his wish and the world is overtaken by Audrey II's children. The final number of the musical is called "Don't feed the plants!" in which the characters who have been eaten return as part of the mean green mother from outer space's body. Seymour puts his own greed and want for fame and power over love of his friends, family, and the world only to be eaten alive literally by the very same thing that brought him such success. Little Shop is actually in a way a cautionary tale about the dangers of giving into the will to power, greed, and temptation for selfish benefit without regard for how your life's choices affect you and others. In this case, it causes Seymour to commit murder several times and eventually leads to his own destruction as well as the destruction of the human race. By the time he tries to change it and kill the plant, it's too late for him as the plant is too strong.

The costume looks great and is very well done. Good thinking on the pool noodles, I'll keep those in mind for future projects of my own.

yes, I heard they had shot a scene for the movie, but the director decided to change it. I really wished it was included as a special on the DVDs. Thanks so much, and pool noodles work wonders lol
