STEP 1: Ingredients

obviously, this is what you'll need to make the food

Ingredients

- 600 gram beef
- 500 gram rice
- 200 gram feta cheese
- 125 ml bouillon
- 200 ml yoghurt
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 4 tomatoes
- 2 yellow paprika's
- 1 cucumber
- 1 lettuce
- 1 small can of tomato puree
- 2 teaspoons of chili powder
- 1 tablespoon of oregano
- 3 tablespoons of olive oil
- 1 tablespoon of vinegar
- 1 tablespoon of wine
- 1 or 2 tablespoons of mint (you'll need 1 tablespoon of mint or the tzatziki and if you like you can put 1 tablespoon of mint in the food)
- salt
- pepper

STEP 2: Cut the Beef

take a sharp knife and one piece of meet and cut it in (quite) big bits like in the picture. i think you need to cut them bigger than you would normally do. cut them purpendicular to the strips of lard (i don't really know if i said that right?)

STEP 3: Preparing the Beef

preheat the oven at 200 C for electric ovens and at 175 C for hot-air ovens. take a large saucepan and mix the vinegar, olive oil, oregano, wine and chili powder. put the meat in it, mix it and then let it soak for about 20 minutes. meanwhile, you can start cutting the paprika's and tomatoes.

STEP 4: Cutting the Tomatoes and Paprika's

in this step you'll need to cut the tomatoes and paprika's. at first sight it may look like it's a lot, but when it finally comes out of the oven, about half of the paprika and all tomatoes are molten. take off the stem of the paprika and then cut it from the top to the bottom (picture for clearer explaination). then clean it by cutting out the seeds and the more white parts of the paprika. then cut it into squares of about 2x2cm.

on to the tomatoes. cut them in half and then clean them by cutting out the part where it was attached to the plant (again, picture for clearer explanation). then cut every half in 4 parts so in the end you have 32 pieces of tomato (24 if you only used 3 tomatoes).

STEP 5: Putting the Beef in the Oven

before the beef is ready to enter the oven, you still need to add a some things. ladle the tomato puree through the beef and flavour it with some salt and pepper. then add 125 ml of bouillon. by now the oven should be hot enough. even when it's not hot enough, it doesn't matter because the beef has to stew for 3 hours. put the pan in the middle of the oven with the lid on top. close the oven and put the timer on 2 hours. i'm sorry, you can't take a nap because you have to stir the meat every 20 minutes.

when you want to stir it, first grab a towel before lifting the lid. an oven heats things you know.

STEP 6: Adding Paprika and Tomato

when 2 hours have passed, open to the oven to add the tomato and paprika. again, the lid is really really hot, so you might want to grab a towel first. after adding the paprika and tomato, stir a bit, put the lid back on and put the timer on 1 hour. you still have to stir every 20 minutes.

STEP 7: Preparing the Tzatziki

skin the cucumber and take out the middle part with a teaspoon. then grate it using a slicer or a mill (i prefer the mill because it way faster).

cut the garlic to miniscule bits and add it together with the yoghurt, salt and pepper to the cucumber. the spicier you want it, the more cloves of garlic you'll need.

STEP 8: Cut the Feta Cheese

cut the feta cheese into small cubes of 1x1x1 cm or smaller and...... well...... that's about it

STEP 9: Boiling the Rice

put about 1 liter of water in a pan and wait till it boils. if you want you can put some salt in the water before adding the rice. then put 500 grams of rice in the pan and set the timer (cooking time is likely to be displayed on the package).

STEP 10: Finishing and Serving the Food

when the timer beeps, turn off the oven and take out the pan. CAUTION: the pan is extremely hot, it it will definitely burn your hands or any other part of your body. mix the feta cheese through the beef and serve it together with some rice, tzatziki and lattuce.

i hope you like it and ENJOY!

I think something got lost in translation.

"my mom learned me how to make it" should be "My mom taught me how to make it"

Not nit-picking, just trying to be constructive.

Thanks for the 'ible.
This looks very good! Thanks for sharing.
yes guy what the hell is that im greek and i have never tasted this food in my whole life
guys I will disappoint you but i am Greek, i live in greece all my life but i never show this food. also,it's not sadziki, it's jajiki. and you have to try "gyro" it's very delicious.
i know gyro and it's really good. i think that we all mean the same thing when we say jajiki, sadsziki or tzatziki. i guess it's just the language. it's like country names, they are called different in different languages.
you are right man.
You call them "Paprikas". In North America, we call them "Bell Peppers". I like your use of yellow peppers, with the red tomatoes and green lettuce. It's an inexpensive way to colorfully brighten a dish! Nice recipe. I'll have to try this sometime. :)
thanks! i absolutely have no idea how you call them in america, because i live in the netherlands. i just looked up some of the ingedients in my dictionary.
Ahh I love Greek food, I go there every year. I love: Sadsziki, Euro souvlaki, chicken souvlaki, Octopus, Kalamari (squid), Spaghetti naepoliti, not really Greek but still YUMMY!
Looks great! How do you use the lettuce, though? Do you mix it with the cucumber sauce like a salad, or does the whole plate get mixed together?
you just need to cut the lettuce and then mix it with some olives and dressing. i never mix everything together, but you can do so if you want to.
Thanks for the response!
no problem. i'll try to answer any question
