Intro: HOW to Make a Usb Mini Aquarium ( for Shrimps)

This instructable show you how to make a mini aquarium that work great for sea monkeys , triops .... Powered by LEDS connected to the usb port of your computer. IT's great office decoration :-)
For this project, you will need:
_light bulb ( i used 200w for her big size)
_wire hanger
_ small wood block
_USB cable(any will work)
_ a 100ohm resister
_ LED ( any color you want)
_hot glue
_plastic herbs

STEP 1: THE LIGHT BULB

First you have to clean the light bulb, for this , remove the top black part of the light bulb (Copper Connector) with a scissor and break all the glass part inside it (look the image) and than clean inside it using a toothbrush and some water untill it become clear as much as possible .

STEP 2: The WIRE HANGER

Take the wire hanger and bend it like in the image than drill a small in the wood block and glue the hanger to it .
(see the image)

STEP 3: The LED

Now take the usb cable and strip it . connect the red and black wires to the resister and the LED( see the picture) and glue it on the wood block.

STEP 4: DECORATION

Glue the plastic herbs to hide the cables on the wood.

STEP 5: Finish!!!!

Finaly glue the light bulb to the wire hanger like in the picture and connect to your computer usb port  :-D
add some shrimps ( sea monkeys ...) or some really small fish (i recommend 1 fish because of the size)

I like it very much, but I'll be making a bigger version with a bowl instead of a bulb for really small fish. I don't remember what they are called in English, but you can have a few of them in something as small as this with no problem. Congrats for a great project.

Um, hello? Are you people aware of how MICROSCOPIC brine shrimp are? This is more than big enough for sea monkeys, this is even bigger than the tank they give you in the kit!

I've also raised and BRED wild guppies in less water than this. You guys don't know what you're talking about... this is perfectly suitable for some very small fish or planktonic invertebrates

I know right these people are so quick to judge, they don't even know the facts right before they start complaining
I sure hope this was a April fools joke. If not, congratulations on making a USB powered fish torture device!
this aquarium work better with sea monkeys, or small fish ( Tetras, betta, White Clouds and Danios...)
SURE it will be torture device for bigger fish (goldfish ...)
and i have said: "I recommend 1 fish because of the size" in the last step.

seriously? a betta wouldnt even fit in this

never put live animals in this tiny tank for more than about an hour

hi, I just made one and was wandering how to get the shrimps in thanks:-)

this would be a cool tank for some sea monkeys but never put a fish in this
1 guppy needs about a gallon of water to survive
Does anybody else here immediately remember the South Park episode about the Sea People?...
Love the idea and i do think i'm going to try it. my only concern is with such a little amount of water in the bulb will the LED heat the water to an uncomfortable level? i'm going to poke around see about using a larger bulb like those globe ones
led don't produce any heats it's the best light source that you can use it for the following reasons:
_bright and use small amount off electricity
_long life span because in this instructables the led is glued so you can't change it easily
_very bright and colorfull

THanks for watching :)
A Guppy could probably live in there....
Anyways, this is really cool :)
I think that this bulb has a volume of at most 500ml... No fish or even shrimp can survive there...
OK maybe it's small for fishes but it's big enough for shrimp depending on the number off eggs.
