Intro: How to Set a Table
Here you will learn how to set a table for a multiple course meal with varying pieces of silverware and stemware.
STEP 1: Gather Materials
What you'll need:
- 2 Tablecloths
- 1 Cloth Napkin
- 1 Knife
- 1 Teaspoon
- 1 Dinner Fork
- 1 Salad Fork
- 1 Bread Plate
- 1 Butter Knife
- 1 Water Glass
- 1 Wine Glass
STEP 2: Lay the Bottom Cloth
Lay the first tablecloth over the table in a rectangular fashion.
STEP 3: Lay the Top Cloth
Lay the second tablecloth over the first in a diamond-like fashion.
STEP 4: Placing the Napkin
Place your napkin centered directly in front of your chair on the edge of the table.
STEP 5: Placing the Knife
Place your first piece of silverware, the knife, directly to the right of your napkin with the "blade" facing inward.
STEP 6: Placing the Dinner Fork
Place the dinner fork directly on the left side of the napkin.
STEP 7: Placing the Salad Fork
Place the salad fork directly to the left of the dinner fork.
STEP 8: Placing the Teaspoon
Place the teaspoon directly to the right of the knife.
STEP 9: Placing the Bread Plate
Place the bread plate directly to the left of the salad fork.
STEP 10: Placing the Butter Knife
Place the butter knife at the top of the bread plate with the blade facing down the plate and pointing away from the napkin.
STEP 11: Placing the Water Glass
Place the water glass to the right of the knife and above the spoon.
STEP 12: Placing the Wine Glass
Place the wine glass to the left of, but above the knife.
STEP 13: Finishing Up..
Repeat steps 3-12 in front of all seats at your table. Place a centerpiece in the middle of the table if you wish. You are now ready to serve a multiple course meal!
