Intro: Laser Bike and Night Riding

Recently I discovered E L wire “Electroluminescent wire (often abbreviated to EL wire) is a thin copper wire coated in a phosphor which glows when an ACCurrent is applied to it. It can be used in a wide variety of applications- vehicle and/or structure decoration,” ß source from Wikipedia. I wanted to marry my interest in cycling with lighting up the night rides with bright colored lights… since my bike was red I decided to buy red E L Wire and deck out my bicycle.

STEP 1: Materials

The first step was to gather all the materials.
You will need zip ties
Snips
E L Wire and Battery controller “I used 30 feet of E L Wire you can decide to use more or less.
Please note using over 25 feet of E L Wire you will have to cut the E L wire or use multiple controllers.
I decided to put lights in my wheels I will explain how to do that also.
Batteries
Battery casing
Wires
Head lamp optional
Small circuit power switch

STEP 2: Light Up the Wheels

LED lights are used to light the wheels

STEP 3: Features

STEP 4: Conclusion

Red EL wire, cool! http://www.geekled.com/led-wheel-lights

That's the best job I've seen with the lights being applied. It's like a noddle frame, very cool. Just an aside, this system runs on DC, not AC. Still, I loved the organic shapes that highlighted your bike. It's like a glowing vine is on your bike.
NO EL wire driver circuit uses dc batteries to make ac
one major fault WHAT IF IT RAINS?
I carry small string tie back pack and a ziplock bag under the seat, so everything can be stowed in the pack, the ELwire is water proof and the controller can be easly slipped off & now the bike has GPS.
