MOP Aka Homemade Tagging Marker
Intro: MOP Aka Homemade Tagging Marker
How to make your own squeeze-type marker out of a shampoo-bottle
STEP 1: Preparations
Though I seldom do so, it optimizes efficiency to gather the required materials beforehand.
what you will need is:
- 1 empty shampoo-bottle with the kind of cap that opens a small hole when pressed down.
A good size is 250 mL or whatever matches your preferences.
- 1 dead donor marker (penol, artline). As I only used the inner spongy stuff it could be replaced with a blackboard eraser.
- 1 film canister
- some hard and strong glue
- duct tape
- electrical tape
Tools:
- knife
- pliers
- gloves

STEP 2: Cutting
Use your knife to cut through the plastic cap ca. 4 mm from the top.
This will allow you to remove the opening mechanism lid.

STEP 3: Use Your Pliers
Under the top lid you will find two small posts and a little pipe. Remove these as well as you can using pliers and knife. Heating the knife over a candle helps.
STEP 4: The Nib
Slice som duct tape to shreds of a little less than 1cm x 10cm.
Wrap it around one end of the spongy stuff from inside the donor marker.
You don't want it to be to tight, bot not to loose either - it should be able to soak up and contain a lot of ink. But you definately want it to fit in the tip, you just created.
After the wrapping cut the nib to desired length a few milimeters above the tape.

STEP 5: Finishing the Tip
Use super glue on the duct tape and the inside of the top of the tip. Glue them together.
You might need to trim the nib even more, but be careful not to ruin it.
in order to make the film canister fit as cap you roll some electrical tape around the bottom of the tip.
When it fits tightly, superglue the tape in place.
See photos for reference.
