Why can't we view this video on our mobile? Is this so we have to expose our computers to ads and malware or what? Kinda seems a bit fishy to me so I just won't watch it. Sounds like others are having too much trouble with this instructable anyway. Good luck!

i need a little help to be sure i do this right.

The adapter that came with my graphics card(Pb,Pr,Y,S-video) has the seven pins that correspond with whats shown shown on the laptop's s-video out,but also has an extra two pins on the bottom (making a third row) where the laptop has a rectangular slot at the bottom,and it doesnt have red,yellow,green and white wires...instead it has: black,black with a white stripe,brown,brown with a white stripe plus a fifth bare wire with no insulation around it.

please help me!

i would guess that the 2 wires with the stripes are the grounds and the other 2 are the chroma and luma wires.

This didn't work for me. I only got the picture to show for a split second when I changed resolutions. Tried messing with settings for a bit, but could not get it working.

ok strip s-videos twist green & yellow together and red & white together connect the red & white s-videos to the red or center wire of the RCA then connect green & yellow of s-video to the rca ground or outer wire, i havent tryed this yet but i hope it will be a workaround to avoid a 40$ converter box! PS: appearently unlike other descriptions you dont need a 470 pF cermic capacitor inline on this layout

I did this ,cause I did have a broken pin on one end of a s-video cable ,but first not every manufac uses the same color code mind was just two shielded cables. The shields were common ground ,the others were video & the other chrominance output. Now everything is so far right & don't really wish to argue about it. But one thing I did notice was that I did need a ceramic cap inline with the chrominance lead. It didn't need any special value in fact .1 uF seemed to be the best value , unless I wanted B&W video by not connecting it (a sort of odd thing I found out ). But there is not vary much info on s-video or haven't looked hard enough but the cap is needed to prevent blooming in the picture resulting from over loaded chrominance amp ! but your tv might not be built the same as mind or a hundred different other different reasons but it was never detected by my laptop so I could not use it for that application it only worked for normal uses IE dvd recorder to tv I hope this helps.

the protected wires are skinny like the ones in the av cable and the other ones have alot just like the outer ones so im gonna try with those. brb with the results

omfg now i feel stupid. my laptop doesn't have video out i had to get my hp laptop replaced with this toshiba one. it's got a bigger screen and better video card, but doesn't have the stuff i liked about the hp one. missing built in mic, 2 headphone slots, and i just noticed it's missing s-video out. i just wasted a couple of perfectly good rca cables.

hey can someone help me out? here's my problem: i have some kind of special av cable on the input side, i have plugs for xboxes, ps2s, gamecubes, etc. and on the side that goes into the TV, i have red, white, yellow, and s. i hacked off the s cable and stripped it but instead of the colors you have, i have unprotected, black, and brown. which ones do i twist to which?

Thanks alot Battle! I tryed it & it did work for me on my ATI/visiontek radeon i have a scan line but it might be from my homebrew a/v splicer box anyways so the burning question is: is the inline capacitors others discuss of any relevance?

From my personal experience I haven't needed any capacitors but I have only used it short term at small intervals.

I've see a 470pF ceramic capacitor on the chrominance lead. Does anyone know if this is necessary, and will not using it damage anything?
