Intro: Speaker Creature

The Speaker Creature is a renewable energy vibrobot made from the speaker found inside a computer case. Thanks to its renewable energy source, the fun never ends... well at least until the string breaks... or you drop dead from exhaustion. Yet, imagine how much fun you will have before exhaustion sets in!

Follows are directions for you to easily make your own in a few minutes time.

STEP 1: Materials

To make this project you will need:

- A speaker from inside a dead computer
- A pull-string vibrating stuffed animal
- Gaffers, duct or masking tape
- A permanent marker
- A seam ripper
- Solid wire

STEP 2: Surgery

Remove your vibrating pull-string mechanism from your stuffed animal. Be careful not to cut the pull cord when ripping the seam.

STEP 3: Tape It Together

Tape the pull-string vibrating mechanism to the speakers in such a way that the off-centered weight is as low to the ground as possible and sticking off of the "front" of the speaker.

In other words, it should look like the picture below.

STEP 4: Face Time

Make two antennae out of solid wire.

Draw a face on a 1" wide piece of tape.

Stick the piece of tape with the face around the front of your pull-string mechanism.

Attach the antennae by placing it between the piece of tape and the pull-string mechanism.

It is not all set to go.

Would this work if I pulsed a tone through the speaker?

You would probably want to use a lower frequency. Perhaps even use something in the subsonic range, which would cause the speaker to pop at regular intervals. If you try to do this, you should post an Instructable.

I guess it would fall into the subsonic category,  I was thinking along the lines of an AC current, rather than an actual sound, which would vibrate the magnet in the speaker, the same way the old vibrating football games worked. It was just a coil with an AC charge from a wall outlet. (making a low voltage AC charge may be a bit difficult though). I noted it, and it is in line in projects. I'm in the middle of two atm, + I'm running the iwn7RC yet, and there's 13 days until windows deactivates yet, so I need to reinstall windows soon. Provided there isn't a limit on partitions, I'd like to get a win98/xp/vista & DOS partition, doing this is a small project in of it's self. Not including the time I have to spend digging through my old stuff for my disks & product keys. But you don't care about my personal life :D

Like my pc i have a laptop and  a pc on my laptop i have win xp (for counter strike and coding) and Uuntu on my pc i have .

Win 3.11 , Win 98 , Win me (runs anything there is no bugs) and Win 7
