Intro: USB Mini Fan

This Mini Fan as been made out of a broken toy car's DC Motor. It works very well and is good to use it when you are working on your PC. The speed of the Motor is good and it does not heat up because of the 470pF capacitor used.
The tilt of the Fan blades determines the amount of air flow.
The Fan Blades is tilted at an angle of 45 degrees.

STEP 1: Parts of the Fan

To make the stand of the Fan I have used the following items.
A piece of PVC cut out of a face powder container to make the fan blade.
A small PVC Box with weight inside to make the Base of the Stand.
A metal door handle is used to increase the height of the stand.
Attached to it is a wooden batten with Mortise Tenon joint to facilitate the movement of UP of Down.
Two pairs of Nut and bolt.
A thin PVC sheet to hold the Motor in place.
Two thumb nails to keep the Electrical wire in place.
Four tin screws are used fix the door handle and the wooden batten.

STEP 2: Front View

This is the FRONT VIEW.
The total height is 9.5 inches or 24 cms.
To make the Fan BLADES take a piece of thin PVC sheet and draw the outline of the Blades.
Cut out the Blade with a hole in the center.
Dip one side in boiling water and twist it clockwise.
Do the same to the other side.
The FAN BLADE is ready.

STEP 3: Back View

This is the back side view of the Fan.
Here you can see that a 470pF capacitor has been used and connected to the two terminals of the Motor.
Thumb Nails has been used to keep the wires in place.

STEP 4: Side View

In this Side view you can see the twist of the fan blades.
The Fan is complete and ready for use.

reverse it and it becomes a genarator

Can i do this with battery?

Yes 6 volt battery......

why the capacitor??

*4
It eliminates AC ripples. It helps it to run the motor properly and efficiently.
Thanks Robot Lover for clearing my doubts.
just a note to all of you. USB is DC. so there so no need to worry about an ripple
why do you place a capacitor on the motor??

Hi! Where can I get the thin PVC sheet for making the fan blades?
PVC sheet for making the fan blades can be cut out of any PVC container such as Coke bottle, Talc powder container, Lubricating oil bottle, which has a flat surface, or it can be made flat by applying a little heat.
im new so pleez help me thanks is not enough if u do help so ultra thanks!!!!!
I would like to suggest that you put a diode between the motor leads like you did the capacitor. This will protect your USB port from blowing up from a sudden surge of power when the fan is stalled or turned off.
I will do it.
Thank you for your suggestion.
Hi rimar your suggestion is good but I feel that my small Motor may not be able to take the load of a big Propeller. Thanks.
That propeller is fully scalable, you can do it using a little collyrium plastic bottle, in example. Because it have little turbulence, it needs less power to give same output.
I should have thought of this before, to use a small bottle. Thanks......
