Have you ever thought to yourself...hmm self...I want an awesome computer to game on, and it will never die. Well, I have a solution for you with this tutorial on how to buy and build your very own custom desktop computer!!!
STEP 1: Pick a Case!
Picking a case adds your own style to the computer! Simply log on any computer or technology website and buy whatever case you like!
STEP 2: Buy Your Motherboard!
Your motherboard is an essential part of your computer. You know, your computer needs the board to run. Buy the best one you can for the money you are willing to pay.
STEP 3: Buy Your Processor!
Another part that your computer must have is the processor. I recommend that again, you buy the best one you can at the time of building.
STEP 4: Buy Your Ram!
Your ram is essential to great or terrible performance. In my opinion, I prefer RipJaw Gskill ram. This ram will definitely hold up to whatever you need to do.
STEP 5: Buy You Some Storage Space!
Now on to storage. For this you will need to do some research on what hard drives you will want. In my opinion, I like having a main drive for programs I really want to run fast and boot quickly, for that I suggest Samsung Evo series. For the rest of your storage needs, I recommend Western Digital Black Series.
STEP 6: Select a Power Supply!
Your power supply is pretty self explanatory. you need this to even turn on the computer. Your watts you need depends on your hardware in the computer itself.
STEP 7: Pick a Video Card!
I recommend high performance cards, but that's because I game and edit videos at the same time while moderating live streams, so I need some power. Your video card will determine your computers ability to run graphics in low, medium, high, or in some cases, ultra. It helps in the long run.
STEP 8: Buy a CPU Cooler!
Your CPU Cooler is also important. once you have most things done, building wise, you can attach your CPU cooling module. You do this by using heat adhesive paste you can buy at Wal-Mart.
STEP 9: Install Your Ram!
Installing Ram is easy. Just fit each stick in the slot in the way it fits.
STEP 10: Hook in Your Powersupply!
Hooking a power supply up is like a matching game. That is the easiest way to put it.

Nice first instructable, nice photography, except it would be nice to have larger pictures.
For the uses you mentioned a high end video card is necessary, but if all you use it for is watching videos, www browsing, or e-mail onboard video on newer motherboards will usually handle 1080-P which is good enough.
The same can not be said for onboard sound, if you like good sound an add on sound card is usually a good idea.

Hey, nice idea for a tutorial, but needs more expansion. If anyone is serious about building a computer check out r/buildapc and Parts picker (links below).
