Introduction: Easy Fall Decorations!

About: I'm a hippie flower child who loves Led Zeppelin, music in general (seriously though, I'll listen to anything! <3) nature, summertime, and thunderstorms. :)

Hey, all! I know it's been a while since I posted an 'ible, but it's been fairly busy here. I was messing around on Pinterest recently looking for inspiration for fall themed decorations, and I came up with these cute acorns. I'm in the process of making leaves to go along with them too. So, let's get started! :)

Step 1: Getting Started...

  • Here are the materials you'll need:

-Cardstock in fall colors

-Pencil

-Scissors

-Acorn templates (cap, bottom, and "main body")

-Knife

-Glue stick

-Mod Podge

-Something to cut on (I use old magazines then recycle them when they get too shredded)

-Gold tissue paper

-Patterned paper

Step 2: Step One!

Trace around your acorn template onto your cardstock. Draw around the top and bottom on the inside to create the cap and the nut. Cut out carefully with your knife. You don't want to cut yourself!

Step 3: Step Two!

Draw around your acorn cap template on your patterned paper. I used some brown polka dotted scrapbook paper I got from Jo-Ann and some custom patterned paper I made myself. To make that I just drew repeating triangles on white paper and colored them in shades of brown. Then I went over them with a gold Sharpie. Doing it that way takes the longest but it looks super awesome when you're done. Cut out your caps.

Step 4: Step Three!

Grab your acorn and glue one of the caps on the 'wrong' side. The 'wrong' side is the side that gets covered up by the top piece of the acorn.

Step 5: Step Four!

Take your tissue paper and glue it. You should have a rectangle. Trace around the bottom piece template and cut out the shape. Glue on the 'wrong' side and let dry.

Step 6: Step Five!

Glue the other acorn piece on top and let dry. Then laminate it with the contact paper and put it up. Enjoy! :)
