Anyone have plans for a dog shock collar?

I checked the prices and (gasp!) couldn't believe it. http://www.pet-super-store.com/pet-supplies/dog-training-collars/ I'd like to learn how to do things on my own, continue learning, but I cannot find plans to make a shock collar with remote. No need for all the bells and whistles, just 2 or 3 settings. Training is so much easier with these and doesn't hurt pooch either. Any help would be appreciated.

i think you r a very evil person and that the rspca should take away your dog for even contemplating a shock collar they should b banned :@

I understand why your concern of it beung "evil" is, but it is not like it is a high voltage. It just alerts the dog. And it is used for a electrical fence param. I have 25 acres and want my dog to roam beyond a leash. So I am getting one for my dog to protect him. We live it dirt road country, but the idiots around here fly down the road. That way he can roam free and free-range, but will be safe. "They should take your dog away from you"? really? Why were all of these things ok when we were younger, and this generation is just wacked out. Tid bit of news. Now matter how many regulations, rules, protections you imply, the world has negative things happened. I love my pets just like my children. I am a software engineer, and work extremely hours but make sure to spend one hour minimal a day with my kids and my dog no matter what. Even if that means I stay up until two in the morning to get my work done, and I want to put a collar on my dog. It is wackos like this that are ruining this nation. If you don't agree with it, then don't use it on your pet. Stop pushng your views on others. Just like New York. Let's band drinks over a certain size for health reasons.. reallY I will just drink two drinks then.

You are probably "if you have kids" one of those people who don't let their kids do anything because they "may" get hurt. That is more cruel than being mean to them. Not letting them have their youth. "Don't spank your child, it's abuse" is probably also in your basket of ways. lol We have a generation of "pu**ys and it is ruining this nation. Oh yea, and chopping the dogs balls off isn;t cruel though... What a joke.

Shock collars serve a great purpose. They are not in human or evil. Get a clue. My bids has one for his dog that he trains. It can send a signal a mile away. That far away you can't use yourself to make corrections. It can also serve to break bad habits quickly. It teaches the dog that every time I do this I get shocked, maybe I shouldn't do that. When it does become evil is when the trainer turn the device up to it highest seeing just to do correction. That's evil. Should only be turn up to a point where you get the dogs attention as to not cause pain.
who said he was going to use it on a dog :)
agreed
wireless doorbell maybe... but probably too loud still
shock doesn't always have to be electric
a sound or a powerful smell can be enough
although, (at least with the ones i've had) dogs tend to ignore sounds if they're too excited....

but its still best buy something designed for this
check out ebay or local used sites (eg. kijiji.ca or best sell and trade ect.)

I live in Romania, (Bucharest) and here we have a big problem with homeless dogs, and the dogs that got owners but they let them walk unattended on the streets. There are a lot of people bitten by these dog every day. The citizens are totally against euthanasing them (not me) because it wouldn't be human to kill a dog they say. There we're people killed by 10 -15 dogs on the streets.

This community is is very stupid. They say they got used with the situation. The politicians are not doing anything because they are only interested in the citizens votes. But I'm still afraid to walk on the streets at night.

I think if all the dogs would have such shock collars and I would have a transmitter in my pocket, everybody would be much happier then we are now.

to anyone who says you shouldn't have to use shock: you have obviously never had your dog pull on their leash. Besides, shock isn't to hurt the dog, it's just to give it enough momentary surprise to make it stop whatever it's doing.

A friend of mine wrote a great article for DogSport Magazine, and I totally agree, 100% with her statement: "A well informed trainer should not need to use shock."

Why would you want to shock your dog? Can't you just tell him/her off with a stern word?

i am assuming you have average intelligence, so...

take apart an old remote control car, then hook the two wires up to some sort of switch that will activate when voltage is passed through it (isn't that a relay? idk.. :(=====) and then hook that up to a modded disposable camera (look up: flash camera shocker) and hook the camera up to the dog.

oh wait.... you didn't want to hurt the dog... lol. disregard everything I just said. xD
the "two wires" thing I meant the two wires you'd get after removing one of the motors. relay? I think i was tgalking about a transistor. but i can be severly wrong.
