Can guncotton be made from other acids besides nitric acid?

I'm just wondering, because there is a mix of sulfuric and nitric in the published process, if it can be done completely without nitric. If so, what other acids can be used?

This may be incorrect? Please see:

No. Guncotton is nitrocellulose: 'nitrated cellulose' it has to be nitric acid.
