How do you add a video to a slideshow?

I put it in the Attached Images and Files section, but that didn't work, it just showed up as an image.

You don't. A "slideshow" (by definition) is a series of still images presented sequentially. If you want to present a video on I'bles, do so by doing Submit New Video.

try posting an instructable, attach all images and files, and leave up there a note that you tried posting a slideshow and it wouldnt do pictures and video, so they dont unpublish it.
