How does this mysterious noise work?

There’s an elementary school on the next block about 100 feet away from our house. Everyday from monday until friday, the noise coming from this school wakes me up about 6.30 am. What puzzles me is how could the noise reach me when our house is inside our block and the school isn’t even facing our block! -also how the noise could be ignored by the school’s nearest neighbors when it’s so loud at 100 feet away. Another thing is the voices I hear are too big and loud for elementary age students but I don’t see any high-school aged teeners at the school. And the greatest mystery is that I only hear the noise inside my room -never outisde!

I know there’s a scientific or audiological explanation for this but I also know that getting the answer would take a lot of time and I just don’t have that. Can anyone give me the explanation for this?

Reflection off another building, or if it's low freq, it could be conducting through the ground.

Hi Sean. I think you got it. I got reminded that low freq does a lot of tricks. Thanks.
no prob. I experience a similar low freq irritation nightly as the drunktank traffic increases around drunktank closing time in the parking garage about 100 yards (and 50 feet below) from my house. The noise emanates from my basement, which is a solid sandstone shelf on which my home is located.

It seems that my mystery is now solved and I’m sorry to admit that I got you misinformed. I just learned that another school behind our house has high school students so that explains why I hear their voices and not voices from elementary students. There is a wall in front of my window and most probably the school voices echoes form that. But I still wonder why their noises come so loud as if their school is just next room. I could even hear their teachers lecturing. Thanks to you all.

Any answer is going to be a guess - BUT sound travelling though common heating pipes? Possibly sound reflecting off other buildings? Very spooky circumstances??

Hi sir Rick. We don't have heating pipes in our hot Manila region and city. Sound bouncing (acoustics), amplification, and low frequency conduction are almost sure answers.

Teens are using your sideyard as a drinking/smoking/sex spot.

Hi Redesign. I'm glad that's not the case because we have no sideyards. Houses in our place are packed close together. Thanks.

Check out your address on your favourite sat nav program (google maps is good) -- look for areas around that you might not be aware said below it could be a reflection that amplifies or emphasizes the louder bass tones and makes the voices sound adult when they are from kids.

Wow Frollard. That was a great suggestion! The amplified bass is just one explanation. Thanks.

I have to add: Auditory hallucinations? I get 'em myself when I'm sufficiently tired that I'm on the edge of falling asleep...

Hi Ork. I know mind exhaustion brings auditory hallucinations but that's not it in my case. As I've said, this noise wakes me up and annoys me almost every morning. Thanks for your valid suggestion.

You haven't described the noise in much detail...

I read about the same phenomenon in some US states. People claiming to hear humming sounds for long periods of time.
