Pimp My Room

Here's the deal:

I'm moving.

I have no furniture.

I have a lot of stuff to store.

I have no room.

I want my new room to be an awesome sanctuary for rest and creativity.

I need your ideas to make my room the most efficient, effective, awesome place it can be, trick it out with lighting, stereo and unusual effects.

Here's some stuff that's begun to inspire me, if it helps you get a better idea of what I have in mind.

Under-bed Lighting

Sun Jar

ambient light system

and I want to hang a bunch of these from globes or something:

sleep on floor mat / hammock and not bed use uneven lighting in the room (light 1 - 2 spots and leave the rest of the room dark) use led mesh as light source

Hmm. I suppose this is a good time to add that I'm 32 and my body is a little less forgiving about sleeping on the floor. I do enjoy whatever luxuries I can afford. I love both my bed and being able to see. That said, I'm intrigued by led mesh as a light source. I'm also considering running el wire under my bed to make nighttime navigation easier.
Yes, I suppose my suggestion of a Loft bed, although it would give you "extra closet space", and could be made comfortable, wouldn't be much better. I do realized that I personally wouldn't want to have to climb a ladder into bed each night (being nearly 50). I am not sure how you feel about it though. . .

Ha! no. But I will be building some sort of bed "riser" with drawers and/or cubbies. Not sure what it will look like just yet, but cost is of the essence. Sometimes it can cost more to build your own stuff than to hack something pre-made!
Thinking something like the Malm bed range in IKEA (I think it's Malm, I have one) combined with scissor hinges and a linear actuator - make a rising bed, desk underneath that swings up to one side to lie flat when the bed is a bed again.

Uh. . . Pictures? I generally hate to publish my ignorance for the whole world to see, but I'd have to wiki "linear actuator" to get any idea of what that might look like. I do like "actuate" as a general buzzword though.
