This money saving Piggy Bank is lots of fun to make and helpful for saving your coins for something special. We created our Piggy Bank out of recycled materials and Makedo parts available at mymakedo.com.

Step 1: Gather Materials

To make this piggybank you need to gather 9 Makedo Re-clips, 2 Lock-hinges, your Makedo Safe-saw, some cardboard, a card roll, yoghurt tub or similar and a pipe cleaner!

Step 2: Cut the Slot

First off you need to cut a slot in your yoghurt tub for the coins. Position the tub on its side, and cut in what is now the top. We used a yoghurt container so it’s easy to get the coins out again afterwards (also to be able to get our hand inside to attach the legs).

Step 3: Attach Ears and Curly Tail

Now for the ears. Cut out 2 cardboard ear shapes and attach each ear to the top of the container using Makedo Re-clips. We used a Makedo Lock-hinge to get the angle just right.

A pig is never complete without a curly tail so poke a Makedo Re-clip through the bottom with a pipecleaner tied around it and then twist the pipecleaner into a curly pig tail.

Step 4: Cut and Attach the Legs

Now let’s make the legs. Use your Makedo Safe-saw to cut the card roll in half and then into half again. When cutting the second time, make the cut on a slope so that the legs can neatly attach to the shape of the container.

Secure each of the legs to the conainter using Makedo Re-clips.

Step 5: Decorate and Play

Let’s have some fun decorating the Piggy 8 Bank. You can use paint, sparkles, material, whatever tickles your fancy! We painted our Piggy Bank pink! Why not give your pig some personality too? Oink Oink.
