When I joined Instructables I thought I would soon run out of things to document with an Instructable. I am 64 years old and have enjoyed documenting solutions to problems from my past 45 or so years. Some of the Instructables have also arisen from new problems I had to solve. Suddenly, I am at 100+ Instructables. Like I said in my profile, I miss the DIY projects and fixes that once were frequent in magazines like Popular Mechanics. I was hoping to learn things like that from others. Often it seems I am the one supplying them, instead.
Thanks. They are things I have found helpful. It is fun to share them. It is also fun to download the PDFs so I can have them as a record or to share with others.
PDF stands for portable document file. They can be viewed by any operating system: Windows, Macintosh, or Linux. Many document downloads from the Internet are in PDF. They generally look like a nicely printed scholarly paper when viewed. Instructables allows you to download an Instructable you like and want to save or share in PDF. It looks just like the Instuctable, itself. All steps are together on one page below one another. When I post an Instructable I always download and save the PDF of it for my own reference or to share with someone.
I own a power drill and a dremal, but I am not too sure what to do with the dremal lol, it just sounded so cool on TV, that i had to have one. That was when I turned 40...I'm 52 now and still haven't made any projects. Any ideas anyone? something off beat and artsy would really interest me. :0)
Oh that is very fun!!! Something along that line would be right up my ally...wait.. I wonder if you could carve puppet's faces that way? hmmmmm
I did a Google search and found a couple of web pages on how to carve golf balls. I am sure you could do a lot of the carving work for puppet faces with your Dremel. Some of the burr bits cut wood or plastic foam rather rapidly for rough forming. Sanding drums would help for smoothing and fine shaping. Some of the very small burr bits could be used to add detail.
I had a friend who used his Dremel to carve bas relief faces in golf balls. He did an amazingly good job. I do not know if there might be something on the Internet on how to do it.
I was 50 when I inherited a Dremel after my in-laws had both died within the same year. I never thought I would want one, but use it fairly often. Yesterday I used it with a cutting wheel to copy a key for paper towel dispenser. I most often use mine to cut or grind metal. A couple of months ago I needed a new battery for our computer's uninterruptible power supply. The most cost effective solution was a similar battery for $13 at a local electronics supply store. But the physical size was different and I used the Dremel to dig out some spacer fins in the battery cavity. If you viewed my Instructable on the Cut Nail Jerusalem Cross, you saw that I used the Dremel and a cutting wheel to cut the nails. I have been surprised at how much I do actually use a Dremel.

How far the antenna strips are from the parabolic reflector is your decision. If you make them farther away, you will have a larger dish or trough, and it will gather much more signal. It will also require more physical space to accommodate it. When I made one of these antennae with a reflector, I was pretty comfortable with seven inches between the strips and the reflector. My reflector was about 30 inches high. You are quite right. It is a UHF band antenna. The new digital TV signals use the UHF frequencies. You will need to plot the points for your parabolic reflector once you decide on the distance you want between the strips and the reflector. There are other methods for plotting a parabolic curve and you can find them with a Google search. I expect if you get close, the reflector will still work pretty well.

But if I fix the track so that it starts from the blade going to the left, then i will be able to adjust my rip fence all the way to 150cm away from the blade. What are your thoughts?

I apologize that I never thought to look at the Orangeboard for comments. How is your table saw project turning out? Did you get the information you need for your self-aligning rip fence? It is always good to hear from another pastor. Pastors on Instructables is a cause to chuckle because we pastors are supposed to be clumsy when it comes to mechanical things. God bless!
