About I'm a founding member of Noisebridge (https://noisebridge.net), a hackerspace in San Francisco, and Ace Monster Toys (http://acemonstertoys.org/), in Oakland. If you're in the area, stop by and say hi!
When I'm not hacking at one of those places, I'm funding awesome projects (http://awesomefoundation.org/chapters/sf), knitting Dr Seuss clothing, creating vibrating pillows, making weird hats and/or shoes, or building rolling houses. Or, you know, doing something else.
I was just looking through your tutorial on how to make articulated wings. First of all, let me say - it's fantastic! By far the best, most comprehensive tutorial out there. So thanks.
Buuuuut, I would really really love to here any suggestions (maybe even another tutorial???) on how to merge this frame with a final 'feathered' version. It seems that a lot of people have difficulty folding the wings once feathers have been put on. All this video's I've seen that work well with feathers don't explain how they did it!
I would be so grateful if you could help me out :)
I have a problem! I'm slow so this has probably been answered before, but how come there's no featured banner on my instructable when I recieved an email that read like this:
Hi!
Your Instructable "The Juggernaut" was just featured by one of our editors!
Being featured means we think you are awesome. Keep up the great work!
Look for your featured Instructable, within the next 30 minutes, here:
ˆ}fnÝ I figure if I know English, Spanish, and Chinese there's very few places in the world I can go and not find some common language with someone. So far I'm fluent in English... Y hablo un poquito Espanol... —nÝ

I totally should have given you guys the shout-out, and I just now added it. I can only plead, as my excuse, that I'd just spent like 2 post-midnight hours being unable to find the PDF image bug we introduced and I was not thinking straight any more. Thanks for the reminder!
I was trying to write a Perl script for Kiteman to retrieve some user stats from instructables. When I use a perl module which retrieves page source from a URL it gives me this:
<html><body><h1>403 Forbidden</h1> Request forbidden by administrative rules. </body></html>
Can you confirm that ibles does something to prevent page crawling please? I couldn't get around it with any way I knew :(
Sorry but I have a new problem with the text editor! I can no longerpaste text into the comment box! I am using Google Chrome. I triedinternet explorer and it worked fine, but I much prefer using GoogleChrome! Is there any way to fix it?
Huh... Can you tell me what browser and version you're using, and what operating system? Also, what was the text of the comment you were trying to post (you can PM me this if you want).
In answer to your question: -I use google chrome -I use windows vista OS -The comment I tried to post is pictured. It was just a text comment: no links, pictures etc.
Thanks, this is super helpful. I don't have a solution for this yet but we are working on it. It seems you are able to post things after a few tries, I'm sorry it takes that long and we'll fix this as soon as we can.
Did make some changes last night, production doesn't seem too happy this morning so may have to roll back. Other than slow load times and occasional site not found messages, what problems are you seeing?
This when i head for the topics, hit view all, and hit recent topics, it lists them in the wrong order (oldest first) Slow load times, and occasional 503 on the whole site. (no 503s today yet)
Hey, Rachel, would you mind telling us who the top loggers-in (in-loggers? log inners?) are? Please? I'll give you a cookie. Or three. And I don't mean evil tracking malware. :-)
hmm, that may be hard, but im sure i might make the top commenters list.....as i have the fastest comment rate, 3000 comments in 3 months is fast, doncha think?
? You have 6000+ comments in the space of a year.......Oh, my comment counter doesnt say 3000 yet. It did at one point, but then The counter got reset when I changed my name..............
Uhhmmm..... I can't see some of my comments on my comment tracker. I probably have about 1935. I only see 1921. I won't be able to see this comment. Can you help me?
Rachel, I've been having a back-and-forth discussion with 'NachoMahma' under his documentation of Instructables' text-to-HTML formatting. I'm writing this note to you as a public comment, not to be critical, but so that the information content is findable by others. I hope that's okay with you.
I have found several things from the EdgeWall site which don't seem to function here at Instructables. It seems like we're both at the stage of trying random things and seeing whether they work or not.
I'll mention a couple of specific things I'd ask to have enabled at the end, but first...would it be possible for you or someone else to provide (maybe just by editing NachoMahma's FAQ forum topic) authoritative documentation on which features (and which macros) are and aren't implemented (or enabled) in Instructables' backend formatter? If you already have that, maybe you could give NachoMahma a link to it to include in his topic?
It appears that the backquote notation for having inlined "monospace text" (techinically, <Code>...</Code> markup) doesn't work here (for example, `monospaced text`). Is that disabled on purpose? If not, could it be enabled?
It also appears that "inlined" images, in particular images pulled via external URLs rather than the user's library, don't work either. At EdgeWall, this mechanism is handled via a macro
[[Image(<filename>|<URL>)]]
When I try to use it, I just get the "Unknown Macro" box. Is this disabled on purpose? My particular use case was trying to use an image from someone else's library without wasting disk space by making a copy for myself; didn't work :-/
Hey Rachel! While I think the old layout looked better, at least the top of the site, I have to say, the new layout is great! Takes a bit of getting used to, but overall its much more organized! I love that favorite and other options are right over an instructable instead of below it. Great job to you and to anyone else who might have helped!
Hello Rachel, I just wanted to let you know that a bug or something happened to me while in the chatroom. I would type what I want, but it would show as a blank message. Everyone else in the room saw it too. Just wanted to let you know. P.s. I did try refreshing, I opened a new tab and close the old one. Thanks! - Justin
Testing and debugging software is a large and complicated area of knowledge, so a simple answer is hard. Usually when I discover a problem, I run the same code that's on the live site, on a different machine where I can stop the server when I hit the error. Then I reproduce the error, if possible, and look at the output messages. If I can't reproduce the error locally, debugging becomes much more difficult, as I can't stop the production servers to inspect the state of the system, even if I somehow knew about the error exactly when it happened!
Mr. BeanyMvBeanBean is onto something, rachel. You look alot like someone I know too. From my past. I can't remember at the moment, but I swear I have seen you somewhere before. Any connection with WA?
