Hi, I'd like to know if international entries are allowed for this contest...

I know the new contest page is still very new, but I ran into a frustrating issue. I was looking at a contest with several hundred entries and had clicked the "load more entries" button several times before I clicked on an instructable to take a closer look. When I hit the back button to continue browsing the entries, it loaded with only the most recent entries loaded again. It's frustrating to have to reload all those extensions over again and may ultimately lead to less viewers seeing the earliest entries in a large contest. If reloading the contest page where you left off isn't feasible, perhaps entries on contest pages could automatically open in a new window/tab.

Does anyone know if there is an easy way (short of counting) how many entries a contest had? I feel like in the older layout it told you... https://www.instructables.com/contest/epilogchallenge/ I was a finalist on a few different contests and it would be great to reference the size of the contests for a section I'm working on in my resume... Thanks!

I have 2 completely different Instructables. Both would be applicable to the same contest. Can I enter both in the same contest?

I just tried to unpublish an instructable I just recently put up and republish it so I could enter it in the April Fool's Day contest. When I tried, it said (and I quote) "Instructable not entered in the April Fools contest because contest is not accepting entries. Can someone help???!!!

I am just wondering what happened to the early entries in this contest? There are quite a few of them missing. I sent an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org about a week ago and received no reply. I had an entry, "Embed an OEM GPS Into Anything" and received no communication that is was disqualified, removed...etc. Just one day it was not in the contest anymore. Can anyone tell me what happened? Have any of the other authors already posted questions about this and I am missing them? Thank you all for sharing your knowledge and making this a great site! - Charles

Recently I have observed that some instructables have been entered into 4 different contests. Some of them have also been chosen as finalists in all 4 of these contests. This forum 'Contest FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)' states: "Why can I only enter 3 contests with one Instructable? It’s all the spirit of fairness. Even if your instructable would be eligible for allllllll the contests that are open, we want you to pick the three that are most relevant and enter it there. This spreads the entries out a bit more. It’s fairly rare that one instructable wins three grand prizes (I think it’s only happened once!) but we want to make sure that one instructable doesn’t sweep the winners in several contests." Have the rules for the maximum number of contest entries per instructable been changed?

Hey. Recent (as far as I started looking) contest entries are really awesome. Like the electronic orbit wheel, the 3D DLP printer, Carbonize your friends, Predator costume, etc etc etc. The makers enter the cool contest here,of course. But if you have a look at the winners, it is very often the machine engineers and the professionals/those that do it for a living. Some of the instructables even fit better on kickstarter imho because you simply cannot replicate it at home. (or did I got the gist of Instructables.com wrong ?) Like the orbitng wheel or the 3D "diy" DLP printer. There is hardly a chance for an ordinary guy without specialized college eduction and/or access to hardware like waterjets, 3d printers and what have you. What do you guys think ? Fair ? Deal with it ? Obsolete participating in contests ? So shoot !

From time to time people ask if it's OK to edit their Instructables after the contest has closed for entries? The concern being that it could be seen as cheating. The answer is YES, oh absolutely YES, you can edit as much as you want whenever you want. If you can clean up your Instructable, add more useful detail or information, or add a video, then go for it. There are a couple of reasons for this. The big reason is that the project itself, whatever was built or done for the entry, is not going to be changed by these edits. Any change will be to the presentation of that project. Of course, we also don't recommend publishing and entering an Instructable that is in disarray and making it whole over the next couple of days. It's always helpful for you to make a good first impression. The other reason that we're fine with edits is that we want authors to see each Instructable as a living document. If you realize that some information is incorrect or could be clarified, then you should be free to go in and make a change whenever you want. Many of these changes are brought about by comments from others right after publication and we don't want to hold you back from that. So I hope that clears things up for authors and if you have any more questions about it, feel free to ask away in the comments.

Hello, I didn't see this in the FAQ. I know you're allowed to enter up to 3 contests. Sometimes the contest end dates are quite far apart. Does winning one contest effect your likelihood of winning a later contest? Just wondering if Instructables tries to spread out the contest winnings. If so, it might change the author's decision on whether to enter some contests where their project doesn't fit as well and have lesser chance of winning. Thanks!

I recently entered the Back to School Contest. My first instructable was accepted within a day, after that, even though they obviously fit the requirements for the contest and it said that you could submit more than one, the next instructables were "pending approval" and have been doing so for the past few days. Today I checked on it to see if they had been accepted to find that someone else that entered their instructable today got it accepted on the same day. I am getting very annoyed because I have spent many hours making these instructables for the contest. Please Help anyone?

I would like to know how many entries it is possible for one person to have in an Instructable contest.

Hello all! I am sorry if this has been answered already, but i coldn't find an answer by looking around the site. I want to enter the "Make it glow" Contest and have two instructables that i feel could be good contenders. I'd like to know if it is allowed or OK to add two entries in the contest? What would be the judgment criteria? Would the two entries be valuated independently ? What about winner decisions?

Hi, I like the way the "Instructables.com" has been emerged from starting with simple site to very up to date and helpful DIY guide to the obsessed DIY geeks like me. I really do appreciate the great job of the web site authors having this site evolved since! Since, I am from Pakistan, never submitted any entry yet, just avoid to fear that my entry will be wiped away, I want to ask the "Instructables.com" authros that could I submit my entry regarding Microcontroller contest? Is the contest entry from Pakistan is accepted here? Perhaps, the entries from our neighbor country INDIA are already accepted. Please reply ASAP. Thanks. M. Jawed

Two years ago, the contests said that entries are accepted from any country That was all nice until i noticed that lately the contest policy has changed and there is only a small list of countries now. I've always hated the idea of country-exclusive stuff going on on the internet. Will it be possible in the future to submit entries from Romania too? Also, based on what criteria do the admins here choose what countries can participate?

I published my instructable and entered it in the robot contest 30 mins before the contest ended and after the contest has ended it is moderated approval. So can it get approved after the contest has ended as I posted it before the contest had ended.
Asked by Bot1398 6 years ago
I'm new, but it seems to me that if a moderator has to approve a submission of an entry, and the "sponsor" reserves the right to reject an entry, why in the world are completely unrelated instructables accepted into contests? I've seen it on several different contests since joining. The main reason I ask is I want to contribute and vote on entries in these contests, and it doesn't seem fair to take away people's votes for an awesome instructable -- that can't win. It is everyone's time wasted to look at 200+ entries in a contest to be voted on, and seeing a dozen or more unrelated, unqualified entries taking votes from those who could really win. It's counter-productive! Guess I'm curious about how the back office runs the show :) This is a burning question I've seen other people talking about too. I've bit my tongue for a few weeks now, but I'm going crazy here! Any light that could be shed here would be great, thanks.

Something a little wierd happened when I took a peep at the contest, some entries had decided to replicate themselves.... I don't know if this is simply an aesthetic problem or a serious issue but it seemed best to be on the safe side... It could also have something to do with some of the new stuff... The disconcerting thing is that the iron man one's aren't beside eachother...

Disclaimer: I may be biased, since I have an entry in the running.I am very confused as to why the current leaders of the efficiency contest are in the contest at all, nevermind winning. One is not instructions for making anything. It just says "watch less TV". It may be good advice, but it is not a DIY project. One is a recipe for bread. It may be wonderful and delicious bread, but it has nothing to do with being green. One is about making a suit out of a sleeping bag. I suppose this would allow you to turn down the heat, but that is a bit of a stretch, (besides, so would a sweater - and the instructable doesn't say anything about this being the reasoning).I don't mean to disrespect these fine instructables, I am just saying they are totally irrelevant to this specific contest. But not only are they in the contest, they have been in 1st, 2nd and 3rd place since voting opened 2 days ago. Who is voting for these entries, and why?

How long does it take for them to decide wether my contest entry should be accepted or not? I submitted entry "A" to contest "A", and I submitted entry "B" to contests "B", "C", and "D" only an hour after entry "A". Entry "A" got accepted into contest "A" in 17 hours, entry "B" got rejected from contest "B" in 20 hours, and it's been over 2 days and I have not heard anything about contests "C" or "D". How long will this process take?

The page with the listet contests shows different entries, then the page of a single contest itself. My own entry to a contest raised the number in the contestpage itself, but not in the overview page. Furthermore my entry isn't even visible in the contest page The same happens with the number of views on any instructable
