not answer. i just bought a mosquito bat , i think i overcharged it. it now does not generate the high voltage to kill insects but the torch is working fine. what is wrong and how do i repair it. i have a soldering iron flux and solder, i hovever do not have a multimeter. i can buy one if necessary. what r the diodes or/and capacitor to b replaced. i am a novice. so please explain in detail with exact specification of components i need to buy. thanks. prabhakar

I have been working on fixing my mosquito bat for more than 10 bats already. The common problem seem to be the "Diode" and "Capacitor" located the back end (right after the mini transformer). It consists of 3 Diodes and 3 Capacitors. The big one need to be checked. The smaller one also acts up some time. But the most likely culprit is the Diodes. I have never seen the problem with the front end (meaning parts belonging to anything located at the front end of transformer.) I will post the real circuitry for you later when I have time to take a photo of my own drawing diagram.

It is pretty easy to fix this bat. You need to have soldier gun, soldering lead, multi-meter, capacitor replacement, diode replacement. That's all. Make sure you have replacement.

Diode number is 1N4007.

Capacitor is a milar type 0.047 micro farad 1,600v to 2,000 v (quite big, surely you can manage to fit it in) Try getting a better quality of this cap, as it will last longer. The voltage for shocking mosquito is about 1,500 v. So you have to have quite a good capacitor to sustain this such relatively high voltage.

In fact, you have a range of capacitor value from 0.022 up to .066 micro farad. All you need to care is the voltage value for capacitor.

Another capacitor is also miloar type 0.0001 micro farad with voltage of at least 2KV but ideally 3KV. For this cap value, it has 2 in the circuit.

Enjoy!

check the connection between board and net check the diodes over output replace if required. the led glows only if the trans. is working good. good luck

Please check transisitor and capacitor on transformer secondary side or direct replace it it start working
Good luck

its not transformer is an inductor coil

If you're an electronics student, then you will have a multimeter, and if not why not? Use the multimeter to test the voltage between the two layers of metal. You should see several hundred volts. There will be little current.

Guess there's an inverter in there, and possibly a flyback transformer. How many volts SHOULD you have on the bat ? Life doesn't always let you have the circuits and the component list. Quite often you have to work it out on paper - it won't be a very complicated circuit.

BEWARE. OF USING MULTIMETER ,B`COZ MY MULTIMETER GETS SPOILED UP 2 A RANGED AFTER 1000V. NOW IT WORKS ERROR READINGS. CHANGE A NEW BATTERY AS SIMILAR. & CHECK THE GRID WHETHER IT TOUCHES ANY PART WITH EACH OTHER. B`COZ THE LIFE OF THE CIRCUIT PARTS INSIDE IT IS NOT BECOMES BAD AS EARLY
