Supplies
Materials:
- β¨ Orange thread (for extra decorative touch)
- β¨ 0.3 mm nylon thread (for stringing the necklace)
- β¨ Beads:
- 8 mm orange (central pumpkin)
- 4 mm white
- 4 mm black
- 1 mm orange (details)
- 1 mm light green (leaves)
- 3 mm dark green (leaves)
- 3 mm silver or golden(decorative details)
- β¨ Crimps (to secure the nylon)
- β¨ Lobster clasp (for the necklace closure)
- β¨ Gold or silver jump rings (to connect pieces and closure)
Tools:
- Needle-nose pliers (for opening rings and securing crimps)
Step 1: Make the Pumpkin Charm
Prepare the pumpkin base:
- Take an 8 mm orange bead.
- Optional: Wrap some orange thread around the middle to give it a βwaist,β making it look more like a pumpkin and less like a simple orange.
Create the pumpkin ribs:
- Cut about 50 cm of nylon thread.
- String 7 orange 1 mm beads and pass the nylon through the central bead to form the first rib.
- Repeat until you have 8β12 ribs, evenly spaced.
Add the leaves:
- For the first leaf, string 10 light green 1 mm beads.
- Pass the nylon through the first 3 beads and cross the thread between them to secure the leaf against the pumpkin.
- For the second, smaller leaf, add a 3 mm dark green bead in the middle of other green beads.
- Attach a gold jump ring hereβit will be the ring for hanging the charm.
Secure and finish:
- Tighten the remaining nylon, hide the excess ends between beads, and trim.
- Your pumpkin charm is now ready to be added to the necklace. πβ¨
Step 2: Start the Necklace
Prepare the first end:
- Take a gold /silverbead and slide a gold/silver jump ring through it.
- Use pliers to close the ring securely.
- This will be the end with the closure loop.
Insert the nylon:
- Cut about 150 cm of nylon thread.
- Pass both ends through the gold/silver bead so the bead sits in the middle, giving you two working strands.
Secure with a crimp:
- Place a crimp bead near the gold/silver bead and squeeze with pliers.
- Press gently but firmly so the nylon stays in place.
- You now have a double-strand base for the necklace, giving it strength for the next steps. β¨
Step 3: Assemble the Necklace Body
Follow the bead pattern:
- Pattern: 1 black β 2 white β 1 black β 2 white β 1 black β 2 white β 1 black β 1 orange flower
- The first 10 beads (black and white) are easyβjust thread them on the two strands of nylon.
Add the orange flower:
- Insert the flower after the 10 beads (explained in detail in the next step).
Repeat the pattern:
- Alternate the black-and-white beads with the orange flower until you reach your desired length.
- The length depends on how snug you want the necklace.
- In my example, I repeated the pattern 12 times and finished with just the black-and-white beads (no 13th flower).
Step 4: Make a Bead Flower
Insert the first horizontal orange bead:
- After the 10th bead, string 1 orange bead on one strand.
- Cross the other strand over the bead, forming an βXβ inside it.
- This makes the bead sit horizontally as the flower base.
Add the rest of the flower beads:
- On each strand, add 2 more orange beads.
- Bring both strands together and pass through 1 green bead.
Form the flower center:
- Take the right strand and cross it through the 2 right green beads (bottom to top).
- Repeat with the left strand.
- The green bead now sits in the middle, forming the flowerβs center.
Close the flower:
- Add another horizontal orange bead, like the first.
- This completes the flower.
Continue the necklace pattern:
- Join both strands and continue the black-and-white bead pattern until the next flower or end of the necklace.
β¨ Your necklace now starts to take shape with its Halloween-inspired details, combining elegance and creativity.
Step 5: Finish the Necklace Closure
Prepare the final end:
- Like the start, take a gold/silver bead and slide a gold/silver jump ring through it.
Insert the clasp:
- Place the lobster clasp into the jump ring before closing.
Secure:
- Use pliers to close the ring tightly so the clasp stays firm.
Step 6: Attach the Pumpkin Charm
Find the center:
- Identify the midpoint of your necklace.
Attach the charm:
- Thread both nylon strands through the gold/silver jump ring of the pumpkin charm.
Secure it:
- Adjust the charm and squeeze with pliers if needed.
- β Your pumpkin charm is now firmly in place!
Step 7: Tips & Variations
- π Add more pumpkins if you want a bolder look.
- β¨ Include Halloween-themed charms or charms that match your costume.
- π‘ Play with colors to make it unique to your style or outfit.
