Introduction: 1 Serving Banana Cake in 5 Minutes
In this Instructable, learn how to make a one-serving banana cake. This easy banana cake recipe is ready to eat start to finish in under 5 minutes. Unless you decide to cook it in the air fryer or oven then it will take longer. It is the perfect snack to make if you only have 1 ripe banana sitting around, not enough to make banana bread or a full banana cake.

Supplies
Ingredients:
- 3 Tbsp of flour (24g)
- 2 tsp of sugar (10g)
- 1 tsp of oil (5g)
- Pinch of salt
- 1/4 tsp of baking powder (1g)
- 1/4 tsp of cinnamon (1g)
- 1/2 ripe banana
- 1 to 2 Tbsp of chocolate chips, optional
- 1 to 2 Tbsp of chopped walnuts or pecans, optional
Tools/Equipment:
- Mug or Ramekin
- Fork
- Measuring spoons/cups, etc.
Step 1: Mix Dry Ingredients
Combine the flour, salt, baking powder, and cinnamon in a small bowl and mix with a fork or small whisk.
Step 2: Finish the Batter
Peel half of a ripe banana and place it in a mug or ramekin. Then smash it with a fork. Add the oil and the sugar and mix until combined.
Add the dry mixture and mix until well combined. Now add the chocolate chips if desired. And that is it, the cake batter is ready.
Step 3: Cook the Banana Cake
You have a few options for cooking it. If you want it to go really quick, cook it in the microwave on high for 1 minute to 1 minute and 30 seconds. In my 1200-watt microwave, 1 minute is perfect. Check it with a toothpick, if it comes out clean it is ready.
Or you can cook it in the air fryer. It will take longer than 10 to 20 minutes, and the top will turn golden brown and slightly crispy. If it gets too brown before the center is cooked, cover it with foil.
You may also bake it in the oven. 350F/176C for 18 to 25 minutes until fully cooked, similar to if you were cooking muffins or cupcakes.
Honestly, I usually just do it in the microwave because it is so quick on convenient. From start to finish I am eating it in under 5 minutes when done in the microwave.
Once cooked, I add a few extra chocolate chips on top. Let it cool a minute or two and then enjoy.

I love banana cake! Thank you for these individually-sized recipes. You're also kind to give different options for baking it. It's hard being a foodie in a household that isn't really as enthusiastic about as many foods as I like. My dear hubby lost his sense of taste with a head injury years ago.

Don't know about America but gas and electricity prices are up and up.
Therefore for cooking, I try to save on power by using the microwave instead of preheating an oven. Even microwave cut veggies for few minutes before roasting in oven (usually with other food).
Re the recipe - easy! Tasty! And quick. Thanks - have also made your lemon cake - delicious.

Yeah, everything seems to be getting more expensive! 1 minute or so in the microwave definitely saves on electricity. You are welcome! Glad you tried the lemon cake!
