Introduction: 33 Folded Corks

About: I like to make things. Art, inventions, tools, ukuleles, etc...

I have made sculptures out of wood which I call folded forest pieces. I decided to try the technique with some saved up corks. I liked the one I did with 10 corks, but wanted to try more. I chose 33.

Supplies

corks, wood glue, pins

Step 1: Fold the Corks

Actually cutting them on an angle, and gluing them back together. Cut with a knife or bandsaw. Glue and pin them together and let dry overnight.

Step 2: Pair Them Up

Glue and pin the folded corks together in pairs. Vary the direction of the line so there is a variety of shapes. Let dry overnight.

Step 3: Pair the Pairs

Vary the shapes. Let dry overnight.

Step 4: Pair the Paired Pairs

Here you need to be careful to not make shapes that won't fit together. You can try some combinations and mark the ends with numbers to keep track of what goes where. Let them dry overnight.

Step 5: Final Fitting

You might need to do these one at a time (one joint per day).
