Introduction: 3D Hologram With Your Smartphone - in Less Than Ten Minutes!
Note that this is not an actual 3D hologram, you'd need real split laser beams for that.
This one is a cheap but effective trick that uses the help of a video - it plays the image from four different sides from the phone's display. This effect is also called Pepper's ghost and was involved in the infamous appearance of Tupac Shakur at a Dr. Dre concert.
I personally prefer to create fake-ograms of insects and other invertebrates, instead of rap legends. Whatever tickles your fancy, though!
Step 1: Step 1: Materials You Need
- Smartphone
- Paper
- CD Case
- Glass cutter
- Pen
- Tape
- Scissors
As you can see, the smartphone is probably the only item on the list you may not already have in your home but in all honesty, that's not even all that likely.
Step 2: Step 2: Pen & Paper
All good things start out with a pen and paper.
Graph paper would be easiest in this case, because the task involves a bit of geometry. Just a bit, don't worry!
You use the pen to draw a trapezoid with lengths 1:6 (that's in centimetres).
When you're done with your masterpiece, cut it out with a pair of scissors.
Step 3: Step 3: CD Case
This is probably the most exciting part of this ridiculously easy Instructable - because we get to use a knife.
Taking the trapezoid shape, cut out four of the exact same size from the transparent part of the CD case.
Step 4: Step 4: Tape
Super glue works too, but I'm not a fan because it tends to disappoint me. When you're done you should have a good-looking transparent device with four trapezoid sides. And that's it - that's all you need to make a 3D "hologram"!

Step 5: Step 5: Choose a Shape
What would you like to see in 3D? A butterfly, a jellyfish, a UFO, a diamond?
This is the most important part - finding the video template for what you want. The one here has more than twenty images for you to project and feel magical about.
Have fun trying to score babes with this trick!
