Introduction: 3D Model Phone

This is a 3D model of a custom phone. I made this project because I really wanted to be very creative and attempt to think "outside the box," so here it is. This instructable shows you how to make a 3D model of a phone.

Step 1: Step 1: Make the Sketch

Open up a new project. Click on "Create Sketch" in the "Sketch" tab. Make sure the origin is XZ. Select 2-Point Rectangle, then click on the center of the sketch. The rectangle should be 6 inches long by 3 inches wide. Press enter to complete the rectangle.

Step 2: Extrude the 3D Model

After finishing the sketch, select "Extrude" in the "Create" tab. Click on the sketch, then pull the blue up arrow by 0.20 inches and press enter.

Step 3: Fillet (Round) Edges

After you extruded the sketch, you need to fillet (round) the 4 edges. To do this, click on the "Modify" tab, then find the fillet option. Then, click on the 4 edges, rotating might be needed to select all 4 edges. Change the radius to 0.25 inches. The radius type should be constant radius and the corner type should be rolling ball. Click OK to finish the fillet.

Step 4: Adding Details to the Bottom of the 3D Model Phone

Create another sketch for the details. You need to create 12 holes and 1 square hole. Press C to create the circle. Make sure the circle is 0.05 inches in diameter. Keep making the circles until all 12 are created, but do not create the circles on the bottom in the center. Then make the rectangle hole in the center. The rectangle should be 0.05 in height. After adding more details, extrude the detailed holes. The extrude type option should be cut. Use the arrow to pull down the selected holes until you see a red highlight. Do not go too far while you extrude cut the circle.

Step 5: Create the Bezel

To make the 3D model phone look a bit closer to a real phone, you will need to create the bezel. To create the bezel, create a new sketch. Select top view on the view-cube. The line should 5.60 inches long. Left click on a line to create a curve. Repeat until the lines are done. Then select the bezel to extrude join by 0.005 inches (not a lot).

Step 6: Making the Camera

A phone isn't a phone without the camera. To create the camera, create a new sketch, 2 circles and 2 lines. The circles should be 0.35 inches in diameter. Press L to place two lines. The camera rim should be an oval/rectangle like shape. The extrude the rim to about 0.10 inches in height. Then create 2 more circles for the cameras and 1 for the light. The 2 circles for the cameras should be 0.25 in diameter, then extrude to 0.15 inches. The small circle is 0.05 in diameter, then extrude cut to 0.10 inches. The camera is complete and the 3D model phone is finished.
