Introduction: 3D Print a Cloud Planter With TinkerCad!

3D Print a Cloud Planter in 3 Steps using TinkerCAD.

Supplies

  • TinkerCAD account
  • Cura
  • 3D Printer
    • Ender 3
  • PLA Filament
    • Polaroid Silk Pink PLA
    • Polaroid Silk Blue PLA

Step 1: Create Your Cloud Using TinkerCAD

  1. Create 9 spheres in these sizes:
    1. (2 spheres)-50x50x50
    2. (3 spheres)-90x90x90
    3. (3 spheres)-40x40x40
    4. (1 sphere)-35x35x35
  2. Drag them in an oval configuration
    1. feel free to change the exact spacing, just make sure they're all connected
  3. Select all of the spheres and join them
    1. using the connected sphere and square button

Step 2: Create a Hole for the Plant

  1. Create a cylinder hole of the size 120x50x46 and drag the sides slider to 64
  2. Align the two bodies in the x-axis and y-axis using the align tool
  3. Raise the cylinder so the hole does not go through the bottom of the cloud
  4. Select the cloud and hole and combine
  5. Create a 15x15 cylinder hole to the center using the align tool and combine

Step 3: Slice Into Layers and 3D Print!

  1. Export the file as an STL
  2. Load the STL into Cura
  3. Adjust your settings for PLA
    1. Polaroid Silk PLA: I used 200C for the Hotend and 50C for the Bed Temperature
    2. The smaller the layer height the slower but finer the detail
  4. Save the file to your SD card
  5. Insert the SD card into your 3D Printer and Print!

Load your cloud planter into your desired slicer (I used Cura) and 3D Print in your favorite filament.

Cactus do well in these planters 🌵.
