Introduction: 3D Printed Duct Tape Belt

I have always loved technology and appreciated fashion. With this belt project I wanted to help the technically minded to explore the world of fashion, and open the world of technology and engineering to the fashion forward folks.

Step 1: Required Materials

  • Duct Tape
  • Eyelet Pliers & Eyelets
  • Scissors
  • Tape Measure or Ruler
  • Access to a 3D Printer

Step 2: Making the Belt

Follow the 6 steps on how to make the belt. :-)

The best way I have found is to use a table, don't worry about the length, it is best to make it longer then trim after. See pictures for reference

Step 3: 3D Print Belt Buckle

This step is pretty simple if you have a 3D printer.

My latest design is included. Took a week of my pants falling down iterating through different versions of the design. I will keep working on improving the design as well as different styles.

Step 4: Assemble Buckle

Once the print is complete, remove all of the support material and lay out the pieces for assembly.

The pin goes through the belt latch and the belt clamp base.

Roll the end of the duct tape belt and place inside belt clamp base one edge at a time. You can squeeze the belt a bit to make it fit. Once in attach the belt clamp and then clamp it down.

Step 5: Put Eyelets Into the Belt

Step 1: Mark spot for eyelet based on measuring the desired length of the belt

Step 2: Use scissors to cut hole

Step 3: Place unused eyelet in the hole.

Step 4: Use tool to compress eyelet

Add as many or as few as you want.
