I am a 9th-grade student at The Lawrenceville School.

I became very interested in 9th to 14th century Islamic culture during my middle school history course. Some of the ceramics and pottery from that time period reached an incredibly high level of artistic achievement. I collected images of four ceramic pieces that I liked the most and recreated them in Fusion 360, adding annotations to explain their background. My teacher displayed the replicas in the school’s history exhibition area, where they served as educational tools for students and visiting parents to learn about both history and art. The response was very positive.

Step 1: Image Collection

I selected four historical ceramic pieces from the 9th–14th century Islamic world that I found online and in museum references.

Step 2: 3D Modeling &3D Printing

Using Fusion 360, I recreated the forms of these artifacts based on their images, and added decorative patterns and text annotations.

I printed the modeled pieces using a 3D printer.

Step 3: Hand-Painting & Exhibition Display

I used watercolor and gouache pens to color and decorate the models, carefully referencing the original designs.

My teacher placed the completed replicas in our school’s history exhibition space for students and visiting parents to explore and learn from.
