Introduction: 3D Printed Chess Piece

For this assignment I had to create and print my own Chess piece that represented myself, for example my personality, hobbies and interests. I chose to make the Queen. The piece had to be 7cm x 3,5cm x 3,5cm.

Step 1: Mindmap

First we had to make a mindmap. Here I wrote down my hobbies, personality, study, interests and my future vision.

Step 2: Keywords

From everything i wrote down in my mindmap, I had to chose 5 key words that would represent me in my chess piece. These 5 were:

1: Piano; because i play the piano.
2. Traveling; because i love to travel.
3. Pregnant; because i'm pregnant.
4. Communication; because i study communication.
5: Fantastical; because i have a big imagination.

Step 3: Sketchup Model

This is my 3D-model of my chess piece that i made witch Sketchup Pro. What you can see here is a piano, a globe or a pregnant belly, and a crown, because it is the Queen.

Step 4: 3D Printing Process

Here you can see the making of my chesspiece. the 3d printing took about 50 minutes, but then it stopped and it would not print the globe with the crown.

Step 5: Final Piece: the Queen

This is my final piece. It did not turn out the way it was supposed to due to some difficulties.
