Introduction: 45 Record Wreath
Instead of tossing damaged 45s in the garbage or melting them into coasters, try making a new decoration for your home!
Step 1: Arrange Records
Start with some CLEAN, used 45s that can no longer be played on a turntable, but shouldn't be thrown out. I used 10 for this wreath. I started by placing two next to each other, and one on top, continuing the repeat pattern until the circle was complete. I used E600 craft adhesive to glue the records together- I'd avoid hot glue, as these are pieces of vinyl!
Step 2: Layering
Continue staggering the records until you reach the size/shape of wreath you'd like.
Step 3: Drying Time
Let the wreath sit for anywhere from 24-72 hours. The drying time will vary based on climate, weight, etc.
Step 4: Show It Off
Apply decorations and seal. I used 45 inserts for some "color" and used Mod Podge, a craft-friendly sealant, over the entire wreath so that it could go outside.
HANG IT UP! I used fishing line to hang it up since it's strong, can go outside, and is invisible.

Mod Podge is just a brand name of decoupage medium. You can buy another brand - Aleene's - that gives you a choice of whether you want a glossy or flat finish. The flat finish might be more to your liking.
If you're just trying to seal it so you can hang it outside; it would be even easier (and more waterproof) to just use a spray can of Krylon indoor-outdoor clear finish--which is also available in matte (flat) finish or glossy.

I like the way it looks at the end of step 3...step 4 makes them look like theyre covered in crap. The Mod Podge is too visible for my liking.

...step 4 maks them look like theyre covered in crap. Ouch! I don't know if you've worked with Mod Podge before, but it's kind of like Elmer's glue- it goes on thick and dries perfectly clear with a shine... Step 4 was showing the wreath drying with the last coat of the sealant on.

I meant crap as in..gunk Maybe it's just the flash, but it looks like that in the last step too.
