Intro: 6 Clown Make-Up Ideas

The clown is one of the many classic costumes to wear, especially for Halloween and for other kinds of occasions. In this collection, I will show you how to make 6 easy clown faces that you can use for your next clown costume: from sweet and sexy to disturbing to just plain fun!

STEP 1: Pedantic Pierrot by Josje Wolters

The first clown make-up idea is taken from face painter Josje Wolters. It's called the Pendatic Pierrot, and it's one of the most classic clown faces in its vintage styled glory!

You can watch the video here or on YouTube using the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TNWOXnZTCS0

STEP 2: Cindy Sherman's Untitled #411

The second clown make-up idea comes from one of my favorite photographers, Cindy Sherman who created a series of clown photographs in 2003 and 2004. This is one of her more iconic images: Untitled #411. You can watch the video here and also on YouTube with the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HCq7vGc29tE

STEP 3: Bruce Nauman Clown Torture 2 Versions

This third clown make-up idea is a two-part special. Bruce Nauman has created 2 uniquely disturbing clown faces for his "Clown Torture" performance pieces back in the 1980s. Now, you can watch how I painted them so you can try them. Watch the video here or on YouTube using this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NX3xKyndaxs

STEP 4: Marcela "Mama Clown" Murad

The fourth day of my Clown Make-Up Week is about one of the most iconic face painters, especially from Silly Farm Supplies (that's the online shop that I used to order my face painting supplies from). This is a really simple yet adorable clown face, as created by Mama Clown (Marcela Murad), herself! Watch the tutorial here or on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JxOMPHN8ac0.

STEP 5: John Wayne Gacy

The last face paint design is a famous one. This one is from John Wayne Gacy better known as the Killer Clown. He is nicknamed the Killer Clown, because beside the fact that he dresses up as Pogo the Clown for children's parties, he is also known for his string of homicidal killings back in the 1970s. For the last video, you can watch it here or on YouTube with the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hy0bJ_o3bL4

I love it!

Also, the Gacy look, the way you did it, also reminds me a little of Captain Spaulding!

I love them. Can't wait to try it.
