Introduction: A Great Bike's Bag

About: I am a passionate industrial designer that loves to create all kind of things. I also studied some semesters of Robotics at the university. I love learning and teaching as well. If you have any questions about…

I love my bike and I always go everywhere with it. But I usually have problems with the things I carry, when I have a backpack I end up more tired and with sweat on my back, when I put a bag on the bicycle it is usually difficult to remove it and it takes a long time to do so, when I have used the bags/handbags that are in the market to put on the handlebars they grab the cables, it's not easy to put them on/ take them off and then I am stuck with things in my hands because for example the water bottle I have nowhere to put it, for these reasons I decided that I should design my own bicycle bag, I hope you like it 😊

Supplies

  1. yarn (to crochet)
  2. buckle
  3. strap
  4. fabric clothes (outside)
  5. fabric clothes (inside)
  6. yarn
  7. scissors
  8. crochet hook
  9. accessories
  10. ruler
  11. paper (for drawing/printing the molds)
  12. D-rings
  13. elastic band
  14. carabiners
  15. zippers (2 outside - 1 inside pocket)

Step 1:

I started by making some drawings and planning the size of it.

Step 2:

Creation of the molds. (In the pdfs the images are in real size)

Step 3:

Transfer the drawings from the molds to the fabrics

Step 4:

I decided to make the piece for holding the bottle in crochet, however, it could also be done with fabric. For this, I drew the first piece in the molds, which I made with a pattern like the one drawn in img 1 (the blue part) and I crocheted like it until it had the shape of the mold, then I changed stitches (the orange part) and made 14 lines.

Step 5:

Elastic band

Step 6:

Sew the bottle holder to one side of the outer fabric.

Step 7:

Creation of the inner pocket (back) - Zipper

Step 8:

Creation of the inner pocket (back)

Step 9:

I made some fabric tubes to cover the straps that I put on the front and back of the bag. For this, I sewed one side of the fabric and then made a stitch in one of the tube entrances, and then passing nylon to the other side, I pulled it to be able to turn the fabric inside out.

Step 10:

Step 11:

The pieces that are colored in the drawing on the left below are those pieces that I sewed in this step.

Step 12:

D-rings

Step 13:

I made 3 seams on the straps at the back of the bag as marked in red in the guide img (img 1 - bottom left) These were 5 cm apart.

Step 14:

Step 15:

Sewing the zipper to create the front pocket.

Step 16:

Step 17:

Step 18:

The inner fabric for the front pocket.

Step 19:

Union of the outer and inner fabric (thanks to the zipper on top)

Step 20:

Sew the sides

Step 21:

To join the sides on the inner fabric, one of them is left incomplete so that the bag can be turned inside out through there.

Step 22:

Turning it inside out

Step 23:

Carabiners

Step 24:

The strap to hang is as a backpack or handbag.

Step 25:

To use it on the bicycle, the carabiners are attached to the d-rings in the back of the bag.

Step 26:

To use it as a handbag or backpack, the carabiners are attached to the d-rings on the front. This is to prevent the straps from dangling or the carabiniers from incommoding in the back when the bag is hung.
