Introduction: A MicroBit Crash Test Car
In this project, we are going to investigate, design prototype and test crash safety devices, either using an egg or a MicroBit as a data logger
Supplies
You will need:
- A bunch of Lego, including wheels and axles, to make a vehicle capable of carrying an egg
- a 3D printer
- 3D CAD like Fusion 360 or TinkerCAD
- A MicroBit (v2)
Step 1: Make a Crash Test Vehicle
The first stage is to make a vehicle you can roll down a slope to crash into a wall. You can design your own but it will need (1) an area to hold an egg or a MicroBit and (2) something protruding from the front to attach your crumple zone to the chassis
Step 2: Creating the Bumper Base
Create a sketch as per the dimensions, and extrude it 10mm
Step 3: Design Your Crumple Zone
On a new sketch create the design you want for the crumple zone and extrude it by 10mm
