Introduction: A Very Simple Stool - the Chair Not the Crap

Have you ever wondered if it is difficult to make a chair? Well, it is not, as today I will show you how I made my quick and dirty stool chair in less than an hour.

It can be made using only hand tools, so it is a perfect design for your Bushcraft adventures, as you could make yourself one on the spot (however, I didn't have the hand drill). Also, you could use it as a small crafting table in the field. Anything is possible if you use your imagination

Supplies

Tools:

  • Saw
  • Axe
  • Drill

Materials:

  • Thick short log
  • Thin long log

Step 1: Find a Seat

Find a piece of log for the seat. Any kind of wood will do, but be aware that freshly cut resinous trees might stain your pants.

Step 2: Make Angles

Make angles on three sides of your log to ease the hole drilling process.

Step 3: Drill Holes

Drill three outward angled holes in accordance to the angled sides. 5 cm deep would be sufficient, but deeper holes will give your chair more stability.

Step 4: Make Legs

Find a thinner log and cut it to desired lengths to make three legs. Any kind of wood will do. Later, thin one end of each leg, so they may fit into the previously drilled holes. I used an axe to do it.

Step 5: Assemble

Hammer the legs into the holes. Trim the legs as necessary to make your stool chair seat level.

Step 6: Check If It's Butt Worthy

After all the work you deserve some rest, so sit down and test your newly made stool chair.
