Introduction: ADD Capacitive Touch Switch to Your Projects

About: Hello friends i show how to make stuff with no skills easy to replicate step by step from powerbanks, generator, invertors and so on thanks

How to add capacitive touch switch to your projects at home

Hi there electronic diy friends in this tutorial i will show you how you can add a capacitive touch switch to your electronic projects for cheap, and give your diy project a professional look and more functionality very easy step by step.

Step 1: What Is a Touch Switch

A touch switch is a type of switch that only has to be touched by an object to operate. It is used in many lamps and wall switches that have a metal exterior as well as on public computer terminals. A touchscreen includes an array of touch switches on a display. A touch switch is the simplest kind of tactile sensor. This kind of switch will replace sooner or later the old contact switch, all the modern electronics devices come with this switch build in,like the old transistor will be replaced with the mosfet transistor soon

Step 2: Capacitive Switch Definition

A capacitive switch is a capacitance switch

A capacitance switch needs only one electrode to function. The electrode can be placed behind a non-conductive panel such as wood, glass, or plastic. The switch works using body capacitance, a property of the human body that gives it great electrical characteristics. The switch keeps charging and discharging its metal exterior to detect changes in capacitance. When a person touches it, their body increases the capacitance and triggers the switch.Capacitance switches are available commercially as integrated circuits from a number of manufacturers. These devices can also be used as a short-range proximity sensor.

Step 3: Diy Capacitive Switch Parts

In order to make (assemble) and put together this capacitive/capacitance switch we will need the following components and the main board that is very cheap and useful, and in the future projects we will make some tweaks

to make it a not switch, latch on/latch off and more

-Soldering gun

-Solder

-Flux

-Wires

-powerbank

-capacitive module board

Step 4: Capacitive Button Circuit

The project is based arround this capacitive button circuit that was cheap, small and reliable and as usual, no description on the website.so we have to dig in something to make this happen and for you to be able to replicate at home very easy.To power this chip you will need between 3-5v and the output should be in the same range the full description

TTP223 Touch button Module Capacitor type Single Channel Self Locking Touch switch sensor

Step 5: TTP223 Capacitive Sensor

TTP capacitive sensor specs:

Operating voltage 2.0V~5.5VƒOperating current @VDD=3V, no load, SLRFTB=1,At low power mode
typical 1.5uA, maximum 3.0uA and At fast mode typical 3.5uA, maximum 7.0uAOperating current @VDD=3V, no load, SLRFTB=0,At low power mode typical 2.0uA, maximum 4.0uA and At fast mode typical 6.5uA, maximum 13.0uAThe response time max about 60mS at fast mode, 220mS at low power mode @VDD=3VProvides Fast mode and Low Power mode selection by pad option(LPMB pin)Operating Temperature:-20 ~ +70 ℃

The TTP223 is a touch pad detector IC which offers 1 touch key. The
touching detection IC is designed for replacing traditional direct button key with diverse pad size. Low power consumption and wide operating voltage are the contact key features for DC or AC application

Step 6: Connect the Touch Switch Diagram

Here you have a diagram on how i connected the capacitive touch switch to the power bank and the load i used in both cases the power bank output so 5v you can go lower then than and you should in order to protect the chip

the ttp223 has 3 pins gnd,i/o,vccyou will connect the wires accordingly and i noticed that there are to more additional pins A ,B but that for another tutorial

Step 7: ADD Capacitive Touch Switch to Your Project

How to add capacitive touch switch circuit to convert all your project in modern touch activated sensor diy electronics projects
In the video of today, we will be using a cheap and useful capacitive touch switch circuit found on aliexpress and it really transforms the diy electronic project into a beautiful touch sensor that can be improved and added to any projects, cars, caravan, panel board and with some modifications to the mains 120v/220v devices.
