Introduction: ARDUINO 101 | 16X2 LCD

This Instructable will guide you through the process of setting up a 16X2 Liquid Crystal Display with an Arduino ProMini.

Supplies

1) Arduino ProMini: Buy here.

2) Full-sized breadboard: Buy here.

3) FT232RL: Buy here.

4) Jumper wires: Buy here.

5) 16X2 LCD: Buy here.

6) 10K potentiometer: Buy here.

Step 1: CONNECTIONS

LCD MODULE:

VSS -> GND

VCC -> 5V

VE -> Centre pin of potentiometer

RS -> D2

RW -> GND

EN -> D3

D4 -> D4

D5 -> D5

D6 -> D6

D7 -> D7

POTENTIOMETER:

LEFT PIN -> GND/5V

RIGHT PIN -> GND/5V

CENTRE PIN -> VE

Step 2: PROGRAMMING

1) Download the code.

2) Open and verify it.

3) Select the right communication port and board.

4) Upload the code.

Use the potentiometer to adjust the contrast of the display.
