Introduction: Accordion Style Face Mask
Simple 2 layer face mask
Supplies
2 pieces of cotton fabric (6x9 inches each)
2 pieces of jersey fabric (1x7 inches each)
Thread
Sewing machine (or hand needle)
Step 1: Pin the Fabrics
Take two pieces of fabric (6x9) and stack them with the outside of the fabrics facing in. Pin the fabrics in place
Step 2: Begin Assembly
Sew along the long side of the fabrics, 1/4 inch from the edge. Do not sew the short sides, yet.
Step 3: Turn the Project Right Side Out
Turn the fabrics right-side out and tuck in the short sides 1/2 inch on each side.
Step 4: Iron the Fabric
Iron the fabric on all edges. This will allow for a cleaner end product.
Then fold the project in half and iron it again. This will mark the center of the mask for your reference.
Open the fabric and create 2 pleats. Each pleat should start 1/2 inch from the center of the mask and be folded towards the center of the mask. Pin the pleats in place and iron them.
Step 5: Add the Ear Loops
Tuck the ends of the 1 inch strips of jersey into the top and bottom of the open ends of the mask and pin them in place.
Step 6: Finish the Edges
Sew 1/4 inch around the mask to finish the edges and close the mask.
