Introduction: Acrylic Lamp

First Materials!

you will need an acrylic, led lights,a cable with a plug, varnish, wood, sandpaper, and a tape measure.

Step 1:

Step 2: Draw Your Box!

The first step is to measure how big the light is, next on a piece of wood draw how big and thick you want the bases of the box to be. After, draw the sides of the box.

Step 3: Now It's Time to Cut!

Be careful!

cut the wood with a cutting machine in order to get your blocks and build the box. Try your best to be super precise so that once you build the box you have clean edges! Once you cut your wood make sure to sand it so you don't get splinters when building it.

Step 4: Build a Box!

Using the Elmers white glue, put the pieces together and let it dry for a couple of minutes. Your box should look something like this. Once the glue dries put some nails on the 4 corners the box to secure it.

Step 5: Carving

On one of the sides, with a cutting tool, carve a semi-circle, this is so that the power cord of the light can come out. You also need to carve a horizontal thick line on the top of the box in order for the light shine through. The measurement of this line depends on how long you acrylic is.

Step 6: Finishing Touches!

Great, you built your box, now let's make it look professional!

First, uning the sandpaper, sand off the imperfections your box has (markings, splinters, uneven edges, etc.) Finally, using the varnish apply a couple of layers so the wood gets a nice maple color

Step 7: Acrylic Designing

Awsome you finally finished the box, now the creative part!

The first step is choosing a design, I chose a spiderman logo but you can choose anything, the only limit is your imagination! Once you have something in mind, save it

Step 8: Final Step!

You're almost done! Now the last part is to glue the acrylic on top of the rectangular hole you made, insert the light through the semicircle carved in the box, and turn it on! your light should look something like this, or cooler!
