Introduction: Affordable Housing Model

My name is Megan and I'm a freshman in high school. I've always been interested in architecture, specifically housing, and I thought it would be fun to try this out. I used the base model that was in the project description and imported it into SketchUp. All the furniture in this model comes directly from 3D Warehouse, so I don't take any credit for making those models.

Step 1: Add Beds

Every house should have a place to sleep so I added bunk beds which provide the most spaces to sleep while taking up the least amount of space. The bunk beds should be simple and affordable.

Step 2: Add Food Storage

Even in a place with minimal electricity, you can still have non-refrigerated food. A cabinet with multiple sections is ideal for a place with not a lot of space.

Step 3: Add Cooler (Optional)

If you can, a cooler is good to have for cold items. The good thing about it is it doesn't need electricity, you just need to replace the ice inside of it.

Step 4: Add Table and Chairs

Its a good idea to have a space to sit in a house. A cheap table and a cheap set of chairs are all you need, especially if your on a limited budget.

Step 5: Add Windows

For more lighting, adding windows is always best in places where you can't get a lot of lighting. It doesn't matter how many you have, and you can even have a little sun roof if you want to.

Step 6: Add Solar Panels (Optional)

Solar panels are a great source of electricity and they have minimal electric wires, so they are the perfect source of power for a small home. Sometimes they can be a bit pricey, but if you can afford it, they will definitely be worth it.

Step 7: Add Garden (Optional)

Buying seeds and planting your own produce is much cheaper than buying it at the store. Having a garden will definitely save you money when you need to buy food.
