The treacherous maze in the film The Maze Runner was bad enough, but now, in the sequel, it's even worse--as in a lot worse. It turns out that The Maze was meant to discover the smartest people who were still alive. It was only the beginning of the dangers to face Thomas (Dylan O'Brien) and the rest of his gladers. The next test for them is called The Scorch Trials and judging by the first official trailer, it's gonna' be a real smoker.

The movie adaptations of James Dashner's wildly successful books are based on a series of increasingly difficult situations that the gladers find themselves in. They thought the strife was all behind them, but now, they have to cross the most desolate burned-out section of what used to be the earth. And they have to do it in 2 weeks. To amp up the critical nature of their mission, the fate of humanity rests on their success. Yikes! And I thought it was bad when the fate of my allowance rested on my mowing the lawn. I'm not sure I could have assumed such a heavy responsibility when I was a teenager, but Thomas and his cohorts don't have much choice. WCKD is honestly as wicked as their name, and they have more evil tricks up their sleeves for the gladers and all the others who survived The Maze.

Step 1:

The film is going to be released in 2D and 3D (which equals 5D) and Imax on September 18, but the premiere and after party will be going down a few days before that, on September 15, in beautiful Hollywood, California, which may be summery all year long, but it is definitely no Scorch. If you're a complete and total fan of the latest dystopian film series, you absolutely must go to the premiere, and you must go to the after party, where you can meet and hang with the stars of the show. Sounds good, doesn't it? Hells, yes, it does.

The remaining cast from Maze Runners, including Newt (Thomas Brodie-Sangster), Theresa (Kaya Scodelario), Minho (Ki Hong Lee) and the rest of the gladers are being held inside a strange compound where they find out that a gang called WCKD placed them in that damned maze and outside the dreary dormitory lies The Scorch, a world that is unrecognizable, except for the landmarks that have been decimated. Not only that, but they also discover that there were many mazes and many other groups of teens who had to survive their maze. Now each group will have to survive The Scorch.

Step 2:

Before they bust out of the compound, the gladers manage to get their hands on a bunch of high-powered weapons, and they're going to need them. The Scorch is even worse than the Maze, and it's hotter than hell on the Fourth of July. It's so hot that it makes Death Valley look like an oasis. The Scorch is where they test snowballs to see if they have a chance in hell. It's so freaking hot. . . OK, you get the point.

There's action aplenty, thrills galore and even some romance thrown in for good measure. The trailer looks awesome, and the movie is sure to be another mega-hit, like Maze Runner was.
