Almost Pixel Art

In my art classes, I ask my students to do exercises with color scales. In cardboard rectangles, my students create the color mixtures to make these color cards.

At the end of the task, I got around 200 strips with these exercises.

In order not to waste the material, it occurred to me to make a pixel-style painting but without a defined image.

Supplies

- Cardboard strips with the color mixtures

- Cutter

- Metalic ruler

- Cutting mat

- Glue (PVA)

- Varnish.

- A MDF board ( 50 x 50 cms.)

Step 1:

- On top of the MDF board, trace 5 x 5 cm squares with the ruler.

Step 2:

-Choose the colors and cut the 5 x 5 cm cardboard strips

- Group the cardboard squares according to the colours.

-We can use color theory to make them more harmonious.

Step 3:

- Once you have the layout of the squares ready, we can glue them together. For the corner square I used a paperclip to keep it straight and fixed.

-Put a bag on top and put a lot of weight on top of it so it's nice and flat,

-Let the glue dry overnight

Step 4:

- Varnish everything and hang it in the shop corner.
